Opera 10, VSSUT, installation
This is something I was planning to do since the last few weeks....but had to wait till the suspension of the regular classes for the lab to be allotted to me. I got the green signal from the authorities on 20th November and on the very same day with few friends installed opera 10 on all 120 computers in our lab. It was not a brand new experience for me as I have been installing netbeans and opensolaris from the last 18 months in my university's labs. But what I felt was this time I was doing something unique......for the first time I was installing a browser.
I would like to thank my friends who helped me in doing this. The next thing we are planning is installing opera in our university's hostels. For this job I think my juniors (Jyoti, Inkit, Asutosh who are also members of the opera campus crew) are the perfect guys. Wishing them best of luck for their first job.

This post is about Opera Browser Installation at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, Orissa
Well, this is the first activity undertaken by me after being the campus crew of Opera. Our end sem exams are going on , therefore I alongwith other campus crew member - Ashirbad and Inkit went for a door to door installation. Since , we havent got our T-Shirt, so we decided to go out in casuals.
Assisted by our volunteers, selected from our friends, we went to every room in hostel. Asked them about their their problems while browsing with other browsers. Most of them used IE or Firefox. We showed them about Opera Turbo and demonstrated how it can make their browsing fast on slow connections. Since, most of the students in our hostels use proxy to connect, we showed them how to set proxy connects and manage add-ons. To students having web-technolgies as a part of their course, we showed them debug option available in Opera Browser. It was a great task, as we convinved a majority of students about Opera.
Finally we explained them about campus crew programs.

It was really a ad-hoc decision. Things were rumbling on my mind since a long time. Besides, i was going to install opera browser in the local cyber cafe but i had contacted the owner never before. The cyber cafe is near to our Campus. It is one of the busiest cyber cafe in the locality. I headed towards the cafe as soon as i got the merchandise. There were almost 12 computers on the cyber cafe.
