The Opera Demo Day at Tupi National High School in Tupi, South Cotabato, The Philippines, was held today at their computer laboratory. The attendees were primarily composed of first year students and the computer lab administrators. The event was a success, with all the attendees attentively listening and were amazed with new things that they didn't know existed in a web browser.
The primary purpose of the event was to acquaint the high school students with the best web browser in the world - Opera. I, Alexis, opened the day by talking about Opera Software and its products, then Opera for mobile devices. Meanwhile, Xyrilloid discussed and demonstrated the top-notch features of Opera Browser. Demonstration was made easier using the school's NetSupport-enabled system.

The audience were fascinated with what they can do with a web browser both on desktops and mobile devices. They were as well amazed to see the videos presented, especially the all-new 'Open the Web' video.
And of course, the students were glad to receive Opera post-its and pens! We had a particularly noisy audience, but the presentation was worth it.

We had a chance to talk to the Lab Administrator/Computer teacher, and we have secured permission to install Opera Browser on all 36 computers of the lab. But then, there was a power outage later into the day, so we have to come back another day to proceed with the installation and to give the lectures to other students.

I want to point out that Alexis and Xyrilloid attend different universities (Mindanao State University-General Santos City and South East Asian Institute of Technology), but went to high school together at Tupi National High School. They have planned a seminar/Demo Day at all three campuses.
It was great thinking for them to contact their old high school and ask if they could do activities there, so if you're looking for a different approach, this might be a great thing to try! I'm sure your old high school teachers would be excited to hear from you, and that the students there would be keen to meet university students.
Well done again!
