Opera Demo Day at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo

, , , , , ,

Hi!

We are Samuel, Josué and Luis, from the Major "Computer Systems" at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (in Spanish "Sistemas Computacionales").

We held a Demo Day in our Major building on Thursday May 29 from 8:00 to 13:00 (GMT -05:00). (Our Campus is divided in separate buildings for each Major).

Our main goal was to share Opera with students, teachers and administratives.

At the beginning not many people came... but we convinced them to try Opera on Linux!

Later, more people came. :yikes:

Here Luis was explaining cool features like Speed Dial, Tabs and Skins.

Here Josué explained how Opera Mini works, with a Pam Tungsteng E2.

Here Samuel explained features like Opera Drangonfly, Search, Widgets and Skins.

Here, you can see in the back people are enjoying browsing with their phones in Opera Mini! Josué was transfering it via Bluetooth.

Here is one of the techers we invited to use Opera. He said he only knows the default OS browser. He liked Opera and we copied it to his USB stick.

Our statistics were:

9 students went with Opera in their USB sticks.
9 students went with Opera installed in their laptops (in XP, Vista and Ubuntu)
3 students went with Opera Mini installed in their phones.
3 teachers went with Opera in their USB sticks.
1 teacher went with Opera installed in his computer.
1 teacher went with Opera Mini installed in his Blackberry.

We put posters (you can see some in the first photo), gave some Opera Survey direction cards and gifted Opera buttons with 2 designs (you can see them in the second picture, but not one was left after about an hour.)

Fantastic work, guys! Looks like you drew quite a crowd at some points, and very cool that the teacher stopped by - love that picture with him there!

Did you guys make the buttons yourself?

Samuel 5. June 2009, 18:40

No, but where we went to print the posters they also offer button making. We gave them 2 different images from Opera logo. They were ready in 15 min and very cheap!
