Ubuntu + Gnome + Xgl + Compiz

Ubuntu: is a Linux distribution, very popular on this days. Mostly, cause its amazing progress with desktop and friendlyness.
GNOME: is a Desktop Enviroment oriented in creating an easy for everyone desktop.
Xgl: is an X server arquitecture layered over your 3D graphics support (OpenGL).
Compiz: is a Compositing Window Manager, which actually do all the fancy work
.This is not a How-To get them running. There're plenty of them all over the net, just google a little (A very good manual is here: HowTo). What i've recently found is that there is a lot work going on, and actually a whole (and amazing) comunity around Compiz:
A blog at Blogspot.
And a fast growing Forum.
At the forum, you can found the repositories with the last builds of Compiz:

I strongly recommend you to give them a try, but if you're in doubt... I think this screenshots will get you moving
