There are two races of vampires walking this earth in Vampire Academy. The Moroi intend to live peaceful lives, while the Strigoi are heartless, destructive and lethal. Dhampirs are human-vampire mixtures whose duties revolve around protecting the royal Moroi from Strigo attacks. These jobs have to be endured for a lifetime.
Rose Hathaway is a young and fearless dhampir training to be a guardian for best friend Vasilissa Dragomir, the last remaining one of her family at their school St. Vladimir's Academy in the hidden forest of Montana. Her personal trainer, Dimitri Belikov who is also assigned as a guardian for Lissa, aids her. Slowly, a romantic attraction occurs between her and Dimitri. Rose's unfocused attention thoughout her guardian duty is sure to endanger Lissa. But she also couldn't imagine a life without Dimitri by her side.

Between True Blood, Twilight and now The Vampire Diaries television series, there sure is a lot of entertainment lately for vampire lovers, fantasy, and scifi lovers. If you want to take a bite out of the latest effort, then you can catch the Vampire Diaries series as it airs its series on the CW Network on Thursday at 8 p.m. eastern time zone.
If you aren't familiar with The Vampire Diaries, you may be inclined to think that it is just a TV show jumping on the Twilight bandwagon, since that series of books and the movies have certainly made high school vampire stories all the rage. The truth of the matter though is that The Vampire Diaries predates Twilight by a good number of years.
The Vampire Diaries won the 8:00 - 9:00p.m. hour in females 12-34 (2.5/8) and female teens (2.7/10). Vampire Diaries improved over last week among viewers (3.27mil) and female teens...Overall, The CW had its best Thursday night since 2/4/10 among adults 18-34 (1.6/5).

Unfortunately book stores and newsagents never seemed to have anything but best sellers or factory seconds. So I learnt how to hunt out the best places for my fix and I would like to share these tips with you all, please note these tips are aimed at the to be collectors, writers, movies, casual scifi, fantasy, horror readers should also enjoy the information.
Tip 1.) For beginners to collecting a great way to start out is by visiting second hand bookstores as they have low prices and often an okay selection.
Tip 2.) For the budget conscious take the time to check out local garage sales for new authors or titles you haven't had the pleasure to read. Overall for collectors of scifi/fantasy books and comics, I rate garage sale between 3 and 7/10%. I had gotten some great old comics and movies that way.
Tip 3.) Online auction sites such as eBay are often a great place for rare editions, collectibles, sets and singles to complete collection. Made sure to check the item and the sellers description may be misleading.
Tip 4.) Online bookstores that specialize in the genre you enjoy can be a great place to pick up new copies of books, comics, and movies sets. The best number one place I have found for scifi, fantasy is http://www.scifan-online.com the main reason is due to the owners Author of the week page that has directed me to a few new authors to try.
Tip 5.) For hardcore collectors join book clubs and sign up for bookstore newsletters to get news and updates.
