Paranormal Log 1

, , , ...

A couple of days ago, I got a call from my sister in law and she sounded very excited! It turns out that at around 7:30pm, Bryan, Rhonda and Stewart were on their way to a Mexican Restaurant in Wimberley….when all three of them saw a Ghost! It was approximately 6 to 7 feet tall and it moved across the road from right to left. That is, it moved from the side of the road where the river is to the opposite side of the road. Bryan slammed on the brakes as it manifested itself and it seemed to have a trail behind it. The could see through it. It had no sharp edges and there were no other light sources in that area at the time.
The part of River Road 1492 narrows to one lane (hence the name The Narrows) because of a creek flowing into the Blanco River and a large Oak tree which forces the road to bend.
I have spoken to Rhonda and Bryan about this but, when I asked Stewart about it yesterday, he seemed hesitant to discuss it. What he did tell me was consistant with what Bryan and Rhonda told me about.

This is absolutely incredible that all three of them all saw this ghost at the same time!
Why would a ghost be crossing that part of River Road 1492 and why on this day and at this particular time? I’m going to have to research this. Maybe I can find something out.

Early Thanksgiving

, ,

My family and I decided to have Thanksgiving 2 days early this year.
This was basically because Bryan and his wife Rhonda wanted to spend Thanksgiving out in East Texas with Rhonda's family.
The good thing about this is we were able to avoid the holiday traffic. The normal way down to Wimberley from Killeen is to take 190 to I-35 to San Marcus and then RR 12 straight in.
I avoided all that plus the madness of the traffic in Austin by taking 190 out West to 281 instead of East to I-35. Travel time: 2 hours and 15 minutes.
As usual, Mom did not disappoint. The feast was exquisite!
I almost ran out of gas on the return trip, so I had to refuel in Lampassas.
The only downer was Dad couldn't get out of bed because of his Parkinsons. sad

The (un)Usual Biography Stuff

I was born in Dallas, Texas at Baylor Medical Center at 2:25am on Friday, April 13, 1956.
It was Friday, the 13th, but it was also Good Friday, so I think I balanced out okay. bigsmile
The bad news was that I was born a month premature and as a result, I was a bit crosseyed.
My brother Stewart was born 1 year and seven months later on Thanksgiving Day, 1957.
My youngest brother, Bryan was born on April 6, 1959. In that year, I also had corrective eye surgery to correct the defect. I also began wearing glasses to help me with my lazy eye and also compensate for my far-sightedness.
I hated my glasses! I hated them so much that I put them in the oven and turned the heat up as far as it would go. By the time Mom and I found them, they were just a lump of melted plastic and glass.
I attended the prerequiste Elementary, Middle and High Schools. In my Senior year, I had to sign up for the Draft. The Viet Nam War was still going on. Fortunately, because of my eyes, I didn't make the cut and was told I could go home. smile Then, as I was starting to experience Freedom, I found myself sentenced to 2 years at Jr. College. I dropped out and got a job.
Unfortunately, none of them really lasted long because I didn't emjoy my work, that is, until I started working for a man who became my best friend, Dean Thompson, who owned Orange Julius at North Park mall. The manager there was a girl named Marlene whom I fell head over heels for.
Unfortunately, she was married at the time.
After living in Dallas for 34 years and working half that time, I decided to move to Austin where I spent 15 of the most miserable years of my life.
Things finally took an upswing when in the Autumn of 2003, an investment which had been made in my behalf finally came through. It started with what would become an annual check for $22,000.00 on October 15, 2003.
I decided to travel. More about that later.
Then, in April of 2004, more money came in, so I decided to chuck the apartment living scene and go house hunting.
I found a house being built in Killeen, Texas not far from where my brother Bryan lived. When the house was completed, I took the tour then we got it inspected. The first time didn't make it, nor did the second, but the third was a charm.
I wired the money to the Bank, signed the papers and the lady game me the keys to my new house and my home. I moved in on May 13, 2004.
That's where I am today. I'm single and live with my two cats, Ollie and Baby.
