Cannot Find Symapathy For Referees Any More

As I may have mentioned before I was in the dim and distant past a football referee at a very junior level but as a result I have over the past few years defended refs against the incessant tirade thrown at them by disgruntled managers players and worst of all pundits who after viewing an incident for 10 hours from 3 million different angles decide the ref was wrong.

This season is however different because what we have now is just gross incompetence from refs and assistants that is obvious to anyone apart from officials themselves, the Luiz incident at Newcastle,Cahill's ludicrous sending off against Spurs and the Adebayor goal disallowed because he was 2 yards onside are but the tip of the iceberg.
Its the fact that week in week out in the Premier and lower leagues events are totally misinterpreted by officials and the viewers don’t need more than 1 viewing to see that it was catastrophically wrong. And the answer well i don’t know,I do think the fact that a ref cant move without an assessor breathing down his neck is a hindrance and the incessant rule and interpretation of rule changes from FIFA are a pain in the backside.

Maybe at the end of the day refs will have to heed what was said to me many years ago by a FIFA ref,"Give what you see not what you think others want you to see and you wont go far wrong"
