Internet legend
.ed has recently posted his very own
Opera Story that has inspired me to tell my version of the Opera tale as felt through my life, only mine includes typos (I think of them as my personal "voice" or "signature")...
During my adventures in Myspace, I had created and joined a few groups involving intereststhat were near and dear to me, mostly Nintendo groups. The largest Nintendo group aptly named "Nintendo" was largely un-moderated and loose enough to not really warrent any feeling of participation. Really it was the level of interaction a fan may have at a concert, you pay your admission stand in a crowd and scream. Nothing would be heard by anyone, and you wouldnt care what the strange men and women around you are saying. Blindly following links I ended up in a much smaller group "Join The Revolution". The group was named well before the name "Wii" had been chosen for Nintendos next gen console. This group would become my number one source for all things new(s) int the world of Nintendo, and was one of the only reasons I stayed on myspace.

Nintendo was where I started in videogaming as a young boy and had a very strong impact on my life then and now. As I grew older I was sesceptible to peers and the "in" feeling of certain games played. Games such as Grand Theft Auto had a sort of publicaly availible connection to most dudes my age. I became enveloped in the playstation 2, even though my roots were laid in Snes - N64. My view in gaming turned into the male centric violence means fun, and nothing else does mentality. However I quickly became bored with the recipe for games that most xbox or playstation games would offer, and found myself still enjoying Nintendo titles as much as the first day I had played them if not more (Animal Crossing: Wild World gets better every day I play).
This was also partially due to the education I was enrolled in at the time. Game Design was my major so I had plenty of opportunities to view gaming culture, and industry at a proffessional level, and I came to realize a few things that set Nintendo apart from the crowd.
- Nintendo will surprise consumers with what they didn't know they wanted, as opposed to delivering what the consumer thinks they want.
- Nintendo never sells itself out to sure 'money makers' like violence to be violent type games.
These were just a couple of the points that attracted me about the company on a gaming side, the other side was the business side. Nintendo designs their product to last forever, that is they design your purchase to last. In any case the product is unpleasant they will in almost all cases fix the problem for free, and quickly to boot. The company had morals that none of the other manufacturers had, and taht intrigued me as most companies, no matter what product, are money driven greed-pots. And speaking personally with many Nintendo representatives, I find that every one of these people love working for the company, and these aren't just designers, I am talking phone service reps, and demo station disc swappers as well!
News Flash: Nintendo will utilize the Opera Web Browser for the DS and the upcoming Wii console
Goodness gracious Mii batman! I must have this Webb-Bowser! but a question arose... what was it about Opera that a quality devoted company like Nintendo was so attracted to? I had to find out.
Well it appears that after immediately joining the Opera Community to co-moderate the brand spankin' new Nintendo group
"N" with .ed (wich has replaced "JTR" by a loooong shot) I would realize my answer. Opera is just as concerned with it's users, ney,
fans that Nintendo is with theirs. Opera is very interested in the quality of their product, and constantly looks towards it's users for input to better what it does.

Hi Captain!
Here's the shirt as promised. Thank you for supporting Opera and My Opera.
Have a great day!
cheers,
Espen A. O
Opera was what Nintendo would be if Nintendo made web solutions. pure and simple. and I stress "pure"
Basicaly after recieving a hand written post card and T shirt from one of Operas moderators
Espenao thanking me for using and participating in the Opera grand scheme of things, I was 100% solidified in my Opera ways. I should be thanking them for the browser and it's many, MANY, tools and unique 'traits' that seperates Opera from everyone else, but instead they thank me.
I feel like Nintendo and I have always been
the bestes of friends brothers, and Nintendo just got married. It's a good marriage though, Nintendo never ditched me, instead he was very welcoming of me to meet his new wife "Opera", and she is a very kind and loving soul who accepts me as well, a perfect compliment to my brother. Opera is now my sister, and she will be cared for as such.
Thank you Opera!
