Other than the formula one today there was also some local racing in town. Now every other province in this country other than us has a permanent race track. They havent had theirs for a year or two, its been for decades.

So annually a legal drag racing meet is setup. Roads are closed of, all safety measures are applied etc. It takes place on normal roads, not a race track.Now this is a big event here as we don't have anywhere else to watch racing, legally.

But today was rather a disturbing event as one of the drivers was killed today after losing control of his car a mitsubishi lancer evo viii. He lost control and the car wrapped itself around a tree. How there was a tree nearby, i do not know, as i didnt attent this year.

Now other than his death the local media and other groups are going to have a field day with this. How racing is bad. Speed kills etc etc. Well yes that is true but its about time the council decided to build a permanent race track here.

Every friday and saturday night you get guys racing illegally. Its dangerous. Its inconveniant. There are no safety precautions. Its an accident waiting to happen, which ironically being illegal hasn't yet.

Nobody should die in racing and hopefully this gets the town council to see that a track a permanent track is needed. Not to mention the revenue it will bring it.
