Let's crank up the music!

A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two things.

Geordie

I took a test on mental age on line just now, but found a melody by chance.
Geordie, which is oringinated from a British folk song, is a sentimental song ever interpreted by Qi Yu.

As I walked out over London Bridge
One misty morning early
I overheard a fair pretty maid
Was lamenting for her Geordie

O my Geordie will be hanged in a golden chain
T'is not the chain of many
He was born of King's royal breed
And lost to a virtuous lady

Go bridle me,my milk white steed
Go bridle me,my pony
I will ride to London's court
And to plead for the life of Geordie

O my Geordie never stole nor cow nor calf
He never hurted any
Stole sixteen of the King's royal deer
And he sold them in Bohenny

Two pretry babies have I born
The third lies in my body
I'd freely part with them everyone
If you'd spare the life of Geordie

The judge looked over his left shoulder
He said:"Fair maid I'm sorry
Said:Fair maid you must be gone
For I can not pardon Geordie

O my Geordie will be hanged in a golden chain
T'is not the chain of many
Stole sixteen of the King's royal deer
And he sold them in Bohenny

Hi Liz, tks for the add and commments. I've fixed the link, you can check it at your convenience. By the way, I don't use Opera Mini, so don't know how it works. Why does it eat bookmarks...

I knew it rang a bell when I read 'Geordie' here. I traced it to 'Traditional Songs of England' as performed by Jo Freya (et al), it's No. 12 (out of 21 tracks) on the SAYDISC Cassette Stereo CSDL402 issued in 1993 by Saydisc Records in England. I'm sure it's also available on a cd. It's one of many Saydisc cassettes I happen to have and enjoy. Cheers, G smile
