Butterflies

,

Sorry about the delay guys. I had to go to a funeral some distance from home, and I ended up in a hotel without a working internet connection. Since I couldn't do anything at all for a few days, I got way behind with my work. irked

But anyway, here are some butterflies taken at Mt. Vernon in July. There's a large yellow one, and then there's two smaller brown ones with splotches on their wings who are sharing a drink. There was a pretty cool looking blue one as well, but it kept landing on the wrong flowers.

(In case you're wondering, that is the best as I can name them. rolleyes)

Very nice photos! The top butterfly is an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. The bottom is a Silver-spotted skipper. pssst I didn't know any of the butterfly names either till I looked them up for my butterfly album this past summer.

Nice photos, Eric up

As for Mount Vernon, it seems there are no big mountains around, right? bigsmile

@Deb – Thankyou, I was hoping somebody could tell me what they were. happy The first photo in your album is the blue one I saw, I wouldn’t have guessed it'd be called a red spotted “purple” butterfly.

@Darko – Indeed. There are steep inclines on some of the hills, but none of them are truly mountainous if you compare it to what you can find out west. As I'm sure you know wink

Thanks!

@Words – Thanks, I think that they’re more interesting than the common monarch butterflies around where I live. smile

@Andy – Wow five stars, Thanks!

Very excellent! cool I've seen swallowtails of one species or other in Waterton, in a parking lot! Nice to see them on flowers smile

Thanks Adele! A flower is definitely a better place for a butterfly. smile
