My fan didn't come from Amazon, it came from Lowes. I had just moved at the age of 8 into a new home and a new bedroom in 2002. My room had a low quality light and I wanted a ceiling fan. For years I always had an eye for the baseball fan as a young child, so it was my choice. My grandfather installed it and it was flawless. As any mischievous child, I tied action figures to the blades and watched them spin around and around. The fan took alot of abuse. Fast forward eight years. It's 2010 now, that fan still hangs above my room. Usually when it's on medium speed, it rattles and makes sound. It's dusty and worn, the pull chain doesn't always work, but it's still in good shape. It has served me eight long years and probably could serve eight more provided it isn't abused. I read other reviews that say this fan has errors. I believe it is user error in installation, maybe. All I can say is if you aren't sure you can do it, get a professional.
