Lessons from the wild

Lessons from the wild
Man was made superior to the wild because he can think, evaluate and learn. The quality is essentially missing in the wild. However there are many things to be learned from the wild too.
When man was an ape he learned to use his brain, long after the ape became man he uses his brain to learn.
One of the major jungle rules is that the might is always right. Lion the so called king of the jungle is one of the most powerful and courageous animals. He has an air of dignity and self respect about him. He never consumes the dead and never hunts in a pack. His individuality makes him a fine leader.
Also from the jungle we learned that there must be a fight if it involves sharing of land, glory or female. A fight is always a do or die affair there is no room for sudden flight. Quitters are dishonored.
One of my favorite Aesop fable’s moral was ‘unity is strength’. Animals unite to make a subtle difference. A single wolf can be shooed away but a pack is always dangerous. Ants work in groups and so does the bees.
It is amazing that even to the institution of matrimony, wild life contributes certain rules. A Korean wedding gift traditionally is a wooden duck as the duck symbolizes life long mate. The male penguin reflects fatherhood in a unique way, as the mother penguin lays an egg she goes away for a swim, while the father penguin sits on the egg, guards it until it is hatched. Thus symbolizing that parenthood is to be shared between both the genders. As the spring season approaches, we see a lot of male and female birds working together to make their nest is a very good example that home can be anywhere love and compassion is invested.
The commitment of a cat to its home is an illustration of the fact that the first patriot was a Mr. Cat.
As does the patriotism, enthusiasm and determination come from the wild, there is not comparable example to the unique attraction of moths to the flame and the quail to the moon. A passion, worth dying for!
Self made people are always well respected. They are independent, unique, powerful and prominent people. Isn’t that so in animals? Yes, it is!
The Queen Bee is born ordinary, she leaves her hive in search of an apt mate, when the apt mate is found they mate, he dies, she produces heirs, who extends the one cell hive and proclaims her the Queen bee.
Coming to the mystics, the animal world has their mystics too...The eagle or the phoenix of the east is the mystical birds that fly high and dwell alone. They are loners who are respected.
Finally “sacrifice” the saddest note on which our sweetest songs end. Pelican is a very sacrificing bird, if she finds nothing to feed her young ones she would penetrate her breast, and nourishes them on her on flesh! Such is her love! Such is her sacrifice!
