Solwezi is a small town . But after sitting dormant for 30 years has sprung into a hive of development . With the reopening of the Kansanshi mine and production of copper the town has become a builders heaven . Houses apartments guest houses shops and even a hotel . Unfortunately with the lack of international flavour and the make do attitude the shop designs are of a simple box nature so not improving the towns appearance . Nevertheless development is what it is and thats important . The Banks have moved into town as well as insurance and a supermarket . As one may expect land is now selling at a premium . The internal road network is now being tar ed . In the part only the main roads going in and out of town had tar . Cell phone operators moved into town 3years ago . Starting with one operator we now bost three with two having internet connectivity . Local tv has very bad receiption even across the road from the transmitter. But satellite tv more than makes up for the need .
