Previously I have listed a number of e-books with different brands. Today, I am going to compare the pros and cons between e-books and traditional paper volumes.
This can be summaries as the following tables.
It is quite obvious, from the comparison, that e-book has got more advantages in terms of size, portability, features and durability. Personally speaking, however, I don’t think the print book market will be extinct in a foreseeable future. It is not likely that e-books will be able to completely replace print books, because print books still have several features that e-books are not able to match.
Book lovers like me will always prefer to collect books in traditional paper volumes. Indeed, print books are more tangible then e-books. I just love the smell and the sound of paper whenever I turn the page of a book. Nevertheless, with all the advantages that an e-book can offer, maybe it is worth to check it out in the future. I’ll definitely have to buy myself an e-book when I’ve got hardly any room to put my print volumes.

Last week I've been tidying up my book shelves and try to organise all my book collections. It amazed me of how many books I've collected over the years ranging from textbooks to novels and DIY/craft books.
My husband suggested that I should sell or donate some of my books like novels, which is only worth reading once, just so to clear up some space on the shelves. I thought it's a good idea and then I start doing the 'selecting' process. After a few hours of doing so, I can only pick out two of them. I'm not sure it's just me or it's a natural instinct that once you've own sth, you just want to keep them forever. Since I'm very much a book lover, it's even harder for me to throw away me books!
So I’m looking for a solution for my ‘book problem’. Awhile ago I’ve heard of a computer device called the
e-book (i.e. electronic book). It is a digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book. This means that you can load books onto a small digital/computer device like a PDA to read on the screen instead of on paper.
This is a relatively new market and has a lot of potential. Therefore, big electronic companies such as Sony, HP, Fujitsu, LG and so on have since started competing against each other in order to make the ‘best’ module for e-book. I have done a quick search on the internet to see how their e-books line up against each other:
The Sony reader e-book:
The HP ebook prototype
Fujitsu colour e-book
LG e-book laptop
I’ve listed only a few names but there are of course many other different brands of e-book you can find. The main thing I want to find out is that what are the advantages of e-book when comparing it to the traditional books in paper print? I’ll update this info tomorrow. But for now, it’s time for me to have a nice cup of tea and enjoy my newly bought hard-back book: Jane Eyre.

I’m feeling very guilty that I’ve left my blog for so long. Only because I’ve been busy working as well as volunteering and found out that 24 hours a day is certainly not long enough for me.
Interestingly I’ve notice an advert by HP saying that and I quote “We do not refill our print cartridges we recycle them – over 112 million to date.” They claim that by refilling an old print cartridges the printing quality will be lower than a brand new one. But by how much? Is the difference noticeable by human eyes? Is it more environmental friendly to recycle the cartridges then refilling them? These are the questions I’ve been asking myself and will find out more next time.

I'm gonna dedicate this blog to my beloved husband, who introduced me to Opera.
Also to my personal interest in doing green business.
As you may all know (I hope so at least) that we only have one planet earth that's suitable for us to live in. But sadly Mr. Planet Earth is suffering from the way we are living now. We as individuals certainly have some responsibilities, but big companies and businesses also responsible for polluting the earth.
Not until recently we relies that our winter is getting warmer, our summer is getting hotter, and yes our Mr. Planet Earth is having a high fever! All the fad words such as Global Warming, CO2 emission and so on frequently appears to the News and all of a sudden “sustainability” becomes the ‘hot potato’ for many politicians and big companies.
For those companies who promised us for a more sustainable future by changing the way they do business, I’d like to see what their promises are and how well they keep up they promises. I also like to investigate any new possible ways to do a ‘greener’ business.
That’s all my blog about, wish readers can join me and any ideas or suggestions are welcome!
PS: I'm not a member of the Greenpeace, nor am I belong to those extreme Environmentalist. I just wanna do some self studies and see how green can business be or can we have the best of both worlds?
