Sometimes life ain't always the way...

Its been over a week since my boyfriend Kevin heard the news that one of his good friends from high school was brutally murdered.

Melanie Goodwin was a Sophomore journalism student at the University of North Texas.



On September 25 at almost 2am Melanie stopped for gas after getting off work late. The surveillance camera at the Quick Trip where she stopped shows a man getting on the telephone. The cashier of the gas station said the man ask Melanie for a ride and he later saw them drive off together.

At 11am someone in Carrolton Tx found the human remains of someone that had been burned. Dental records identified that person as Melanie Goodwin. The official cause of death was blunt force trauma

Not long after the surveillance tape was released police got a tip from the girlfriend of a man named Ernesto Reyes. Reyes' girlfriend claimed she new the man on the tape and she saw him that night with burns and singed hair on his arms.

In investigating the scene where Melanie's body was found police discovered another surveillance tape from a neighboring buisness. On that tape was the same man from the gas station seen dragging a body out of Melanie Goodwin's car and lighting the body on fire. Reyes' girlfriend also identified him in this tape.

On September 27th police made a break in the case when they arrested 19 year old Donovan Young for tampering with evidence. Young told police that Reyes came to his house with blood on his shirt and said "he killed someone, didnt mean to and needed to get rid of the body." according to an affidavit. Young said he gave Reyes money and a can for gas. Reyes then left. He later returned told young he had burned the body and the two went to sleep.



The next morning the two men took Melanie's car to a nearby parking lot and tried to "blow the car up". When that didnt work Reyes wanted to drive the car somewhere else but Young refused to help. Young eventually game Reyes more money for gas and agreed to pick Reyes up after he burned the car. Young claims he has no Idea where Reyes is.

Neither does anyone else. The Goodwin family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading the arrest of Ernesto Reyes:



Reyes is a resident alien of Denton Texas.

He is a Hispanic Male, 20 years old 6'1", 240 lbs.

My point in writing this is to get his picture out there. Please share this to as many people as you can. We want to find this guy and get justice for the Goodwin family.

Melanie was laid to rest on Saturday September 29th with 15,000 people in attendance.

I attended Melanie's funeral and though I didnt know her it was very obvious how much she was loved. She was active in her church, a singer, and actress, and an amazing person. Her death was both brutal and devistaing and her family deserves justice.

Ernest Reyes doesnt deserve to be free. Please help.

Im back at Sam Houston. Ive moved into my apartment and I love it. We've made it our home and its great. School is pretty awesome. I have three favorite classes..

Forensic Science.. naturally because I get to learn about something I am very interested in. *and I joined the Society of Forensic Science where I get to help the Graduate students with their dissertations and hangout with them.. we even get to see a real live autopsy!*

Human Sexuality.. Its very interesting. enough said

Botany... I wasnt really excited about this class but my professor is AMAZING! Hes crazy and knows a lot about plants.. He talks about how he likes to party and have a good time but when it comes to school and teaching he focuses on nothing else. Hes awesome.

So ya school is pretty awesome.

Ive been reading a lot lately.. Ive spent tons of money on books that last couple of weeks. I just finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower.. its is an extremely good book and I recommend it to everyone!! SO GO READ IT NOW!

I also reread Go Ask Alice.. im sure you've all heard of it. its the book that is supposedly the real life diary of a 15 year old that gets addicted to drugs. I read it when i was like 14 and It effected me the same back then that it did now.. its really sad. I dont think its really the diary of a real person but.. its still really sad.

No I am ready Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs it was written in 1959 and its also about a drug addict. *I dont do drugs I just think its interesting to read about people that do* Today in the middle of Botany lecture my Prof notice the book sitting on my desk and right in the middle of lecture he says "are you reading that book for a class" and i respond "no just on my own" then he goes on to tell me that William S. Burroughs used to live in Hunstville *where I live* and he had a marijuana farm and he is the reason that marijuana grows naturally in our city. Then he proceeded to tell me that he hates the guy because he was a heroine addict and killed his wife.. ya told you this teacher was crazy this was all in the middle of a lecture about gymnosperm. hahaha

well I think thats all for now.

Oh yea one more thing.. the past like 3 months I have been getting like 6 messages a day.. I dont know if its because I was featured on the Opera homepage for like a day or if people just find me and think Im that interesting but... its kinda cool. so thanks.
