Oh, I wonder if Microsoft Security Essentials works as well as Kaspersky... rolleyes ... Whatcha say?

Andrew NguyenSouthernCross Saturday, November 28, 2009 3:54:17 AM

lol

I didn't know people still used Kaspersky. bigeyes

AnyThing :PClass10a1 Saturday, November 28, 2009 4:09:14 AM

I take it that you're saying Microsoft Security Essentials is way better. yes
Anyways, I just don't believe free stuff could be better than paid stuff... bigsmile

I don't have Windows. I like Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. penguinhappy.
Basically, I don't have an opinion on Windows and Ubuntu does everything I want it to do. yes.

AnyThing :PClass10a1 Saturday, November 28, 2009 7:17:35 AM

bigeyes Ubuntu 9.10?
I honestly haven't ever heard about it before. What's it like ? bigsmile Does it look good? bigsmile I mean, how is it different from Windows?

Knut Remi "DrLaunch" Løvlidrlaunch Saturday, November 28, 2009 10:45:15 AM

Kaspersky is good. But not as good as Avast! 4 Home edition. It's free, and I've been using it combined with some common sense for at least four years. I've been virus free all the time.

Don't sell your soul to security companies when you can get better security software for free.

Knut Remi "DrLaunch" Løvlidrlaunch Saturday, November 28, 2009 10:51:56 AM

Ubuntu 9.10 is awesome! Especially on netbooks. Chat, mail, your calendar entries and weather are built right in to the menu bar. You'll even get 2GB of free online storage with it, all integrated into your apps.

Andrew NguyenSouthernCross Saturday, November 28, 2009 4:11:16 PM

Well yes, that statement about paid stuff is sometimes true. But I take that MSE will be good at protecting their own operating system. p

I've been using Avast! Home (free) for quite sometime and IT IS really good at doing its job. But I switched to MSE to see how it'd go and its been doing its job as well. bigsmile

Yes, I'd have to agree with Ubuntu for netbooks. smile

Okie dokie. Thanks for the info. happy up

The first thing I install after Ubuntu is VICE.
What I like the most about Ubuntu is that there is so much great open source software that's available straight from the repositories. bigsmile.
I haven't bought a single software package because everything I want is there already. up.
I can't give a comparison to any version of Windows since I don't have Windows on my system. left.

Andrew NguyenSouthernCross Friday, December 11, 2009 9:59:09 PM

Any PC that can run Windows Vista, Windows XP, maybe EVEN Windows 2000, or any PC that couldn't run Vista can run Windows 7. p

(Hieu) Phan The Hieupthhieubilly Saturday, December 12, 2009 3:56:55 AM

AnyThing :PClass10a1 Saturday, December 12, 2009 4:26:54 AM

Linux?
................. Ah, I can tell why you suggest Linux... penguin ... p

Knut Remi "DrLaunch" Løvlidrlaunch Saturday, December 12, 2009 10:48:04 AM

If it runs XP, you should give Windows 7 a go. It's pretty lightweight and runs smoothly on even older netbooks.

Or give a lightweight Linux distro a go, such as Xubuntu or Tiny Core Linux.
