I've just gotten a new web counter for my blog ( from an old post of mine
).
Just get a load of the top of the sidebar.
Whatcha say? Isn't it such an awesome place for a counter?
(You probably can't see it if you're using IE, though.

Here's how you put your counter up there
Embed the code below to your sticky post

You can adjust the code to make the counter stay at the place you want it to.
