Battlefield 3 is nigh – Q4 2011

Although it’s still quarter 1 of 2011, you’ll be entertained with so many cool titles releasing this year and Q4 will be upon us in no time. But here are some things you might want to see to get you as excited about BF3 as I am.The Battlefield franchise has come a long way since BF1942. In my research I’ve found out that the franchise started out with a prototype called “Codename Eagle”, in which the soul of battlefield was created, and Battlefield 1942 was born.
Many titles came after it. Battlefield 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 are probably the most popular, and since BF2 fans have been waiting and wanting something new and fresh, something that would blow their minds away. Many fans miss and look back to those BF2 days, but like me, never really returning to BF2 due to its age you might say, or simply because BF2 have been played it to a pulp.
Maybe DICE felt the same, maybe they felt they were missing something in their previous titles, or maybe they wanted to make that game they’ve always aimed to create since Codename Eagle.
In all their successes, they didn’t upgrade the Frostbite engine to a “1.2 version” or something, no they’ve stripped it down and rewrote it from scratch to create Frostbite 2. This new engine gave them the freedom to do what they were planned to do. Better everything! From character animations, models, textures, lighting and even better sound design than BFBC2, to make you feel like you’re really in the game.
“No computer game can be that close to reality” you might say. That might be true today, maybe in the future that barrier will be broken by technological advances. However, take a look at these images and videos below… maybe then you’ll agree that what DICE has achieved is pretty damn close to it!
Now that video was more of a teaser, here is a more detailed look into the gameplay via gamespot.

HD versions available on ripten.comAnd they aren’t rendered wallpapers, they’re in-game screenshots. That’s right. More here.
Now, comments? If you’re excited about this as I am, and can’t wait for it to release, please share your excitement!
