Mentor

Yesterday was a pretty productive day for me. All started with lunch at school, mingling with past graduates from my major. It was really cool to see the professions all the alums have become. Healthcare is surely going to be an integral part of our country in the coming years and I think it's a wonderful industry with a great deal of opportunity. So, I networked for a bit and got a couple business cards and advice. Later in the evening, I finally met my mentor in person. My major provides a mentor for students who wish to get a more personal experience of the real world and the profession they may want to pursue. My mentor is a wonderful man. He's a dentist who opened up his own practice. The guy is pretty wealthy from the sound of things. He owns an 11-acre land, 4 horses, a handful of cats, 2 labrador retrievers and used to own goats as well. Talk about a zoo. I'm not sure where he found the time to fit all that into his life, but interesting nonetheless. I really look forward to working and learning a lot from him. I'm going to use his abilities and knowledge to my advantage because I know the job market here in the U.S. isn't so hot right now...
I think I'm going to make the trip back at home next weekend for Valentine's Day so I can work. I desperately need some cash! I despise being a poor college kid!! I think I'm going to be in trouble too. I'm suppose to be taking out this girl to dinner that evening...there goes the money I will be making!
Well, hopefully it will be worth it!
Good thing my parents will be away that weekend so I have the house to myself!!
