I use an off brand that cost me only $12.00. It makes 12 cups and stays on all the time! I hate the automatic shut off coffee makers...p

thobi Sunday, September 6, 2009 2:52:43 PM

a fully automatic coffee machine from jura smile (jura impressa ultra)
7-9 years old (don't remember exactly) and i got it from my mum 6 years ago. made ~14.000 coffees yet smile

no need to be embaraassed. i was just lucky wink and as i said, it's an old one. probably already 10 years old bigsmile
but still a great coffee machine. even if i thought twice, that it won't last much longer wink

i never use a coffee maker. my mom always makes our coffee in traditional way. everything is manual but produce best taste and quality

Sue Ironshairyfairymary Tuesday, September 15, 2009 12:15:10 PM

At home I don't have anything as grand as coffee maker (unless you count my husband!)

At work we have a superb Jura Coffee machine that grinds the beans fresh while you stand there talking about what you did last night. Very sociable! Super strong coffee too wink

On the other hand, it's a bossy little thing - constantly barking out instructions to change this filter, fill this container, clean the other etc. Oh, and for some reason its insistence on correctly pluralising "espresso" as "espressi" really gets my goat.

I repeat though: super strong coffee

arwena Wednesday, September 30, 2009 1:58:06 AM

i love collecting coffee makers especially the italian stove top coffee maker or Le'Xpress Italian Style.

i also like the french press which you can buy thin round filter paper to avoid extra grounds in your coffee.

a nice coffee machine do make a nice coffee pot. the timing and the temperature is the key.

I use a vintage Sunbeam C20B vacuum coffee maker. been using it for the past 3 years. Very spoiled with the quality and taste of the coffee brewed. Would not brew any other way other than a vacuum coffee maker.

Nora Marie QudusSayward Monday, November 16, 2009 5:12:57 PM

I use the free one that came with a Gevalia offer. I also have an old(maybe 60+ years) yes old drip unit that will make coffee into any pot.

James Bernardjamesbernard Thursday, November 19, 2009 6:08:24 AM

A breville filter machine with built in timer so my wife and I can have a beautiful mug of coffee when we wake up in the morning.

CyaPalmOS Monday, December 14, 2009 8:45:14 PM

We have two machines here, well three.

1: Krups KM7000 which is our daily workhorse
2: Bialetti moka express for the occasional espresso
3: Chemex Drip Device for the weekends

The Chemex makes the best drop coffee IN THE WORLD! But then again, that's just my opinion.

I buy my beans green and roast them all at home. I'm a bit of a fanatic.

Sarah angel292005 Tuesday, December 15, 2009 1:42:42 AM

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

Nora Marie QudusSayward Tuesday, December 15, 2009 4:48:38 PM

I think it is the coffee that is more important. If you use lousy coffee then the finest maker makes crap in a cup.

That is why I will drink less when I am poor than drink bad coffee. I have found Mystic Monk to be my favorite. I do not like a weak cup of coffee but I don't want to curdle the cream either!

Alexandru Lazardonkeylz Friday, December 25, 2009 5:56:44 PM

A no-name but programmable machine so that I have hot coffee early in the morning.

Sladjadjoslans Saturday, January 9, 2010 1:01:10 AM

Hi there! I agree with Nora

Nora Marie QudusSayward Saturday, January 9, 2010 9:45:32 PM

Thank-you, coffee thank-you very much....

Sladjadjoslans Saturday, January 9, 2010 9:47:05 PM

yes

Alexandru Lazardonkeylz Monday, January 11, 2010 7:40:01 PM

Me too. When all I'm aiming for is caffeine high, cheap coffee is ok as long as it's strong, but that's something I drink in the background at work. But I need good coffee for my lazy Saturday afternoons or quiet mornings.

Sladjadjoslans Monday, January 11, 2010 8:36:14 PM

Yes Alex,exactly

Nora Marie QudusSayward Wednesday, January 20, 2010 5:45:24 PM

I will drink tea instead of lousy coffee. I like King Cole Tea.

Sarah angel292005 Wednesday, January 20, 2010 5:54:21 PM

Nora...this group is for coffee lovers.... all coffee haters can go away.

Nora Marie QudusSayward Wednesday, January 20, 2010 6:32:16 PM

I don't hate coffee. But I am a true lover and lousy coffee is an abomination to the idea of coffee. down
I drink Mystic Monk and I drink the Hermits roast angel angel angel

Alexandru Lazardonkeylz Tuesday, February 2, 2010 3:08:03 PM

Sarah, do calm down, Nora Marie hardly looks like a coffee hater from her replies above :-).

I often drink tea myself and I enjoy it, but as a programmer I *need* caffeine jolts so tea is hardly an option for this.

Nora Marie QudusSayward Tuesday, February 2, 2010 5:13:52 PM

Thank-you!

50% peaberry+ 50% plantation A is a great mix

Jamesleushino Monday, February 22, 2010 4:41:25 PM

My wife and I have a Bunn coffee maker. They run about $100 US. We generally change them out every four to five years.

Alanoakwoodbank Monday, March 1, 2010 10:09:32 AM

I use a DeLonghi Cafe Treviso and also a Dualit grinder that I use on a fine grind 4/13 to slow the espresso action. But then (all groan!)I mix it with about 30% frothed milk.

Now, here is the important bit, I recently found a superb coffee bean - Monsoon Malabar. It suits my taste very well and I am now buying it by the kilo!

Many years ago I used peaberry and enjoyed its rather sweet taste but it was expensive compared to other coffee beans. I have not bought it for a long time now (40 years?) so I do not know how its price has developed.

I am now using Monsoon Malabar and it is very good.

Nora Marie QudusSayward Monday, March 8, 2010 2:28:51 PM

I have had the rare privilege to drink a Yeman coffee that is not exported at all.

Jayintegrator Wednesday, March 24, 2010 10:19:02 PM

I have a plain coffee maker, but I do grind my own beans, unless someone gives me gift coffee. I try different things. I'd love to roast my own, and will try one of these days. I also have a Bodum coffee press I use sometimes.

Nora Marie QudusSayward Friday, March 26, 2010 2:33:06 PM

I grind my own beans too. I buy from Mystic monk- it is one of the best i have tried over the years. Roasting beans would be a great hobby -like wine making or cheese making. I have seen old roasters- they look about the size of 1/2 oil drum-very ornate.

Roman Hrohafner Saturday, April 24, 2010 5:03:43 PM

You know it is strange. I own a coffee site http://www.coffeeinspector.com and writte about coffee all the time.
I love espresso machines and single serve machines. But i like Turkish coffee abowe all.

Friendy OkekeSkyxpress Tuesday, May 4, 2010 5:01:48 PM

I don't have coffee machine. I'm used to drinking instant brands. In Nigeria there're instant coffee brands everywhere. We have clasic & decafeinated: these are Nescafe products. There's also the last Nescafe stuff called Nescafe Créme or 3 in 1. 3 in 1 means, milk, sugar & coffee in a mix. All u do is boil your water, pour some in a cup. Empty 3 in 1, stir. Drink. There's Café Pélé from Brazil. This is another instant coffee. There's Espresso & Capucino. Coffee beans are scarce here. My flask is always filled with either hot water or hot coffee.

Ngan VuTinoty Thursday, August 5, 2010 3:19:06 PM

Okeke told about the kind of coffe which my country we call "coff pha san" - that means everything has prepared already, and you only must boil it...! No need to put sugar...! I also like this one because it's good and easy to use! And I like G7' coffe. This is one of many brand coffe in my country.

In my country, coffe is planned a lot! most of them are exported! People are used to drinking coffe in the morning or in the evening.

Batu Gunungfranoes Sunday, November 21, 2010 6:14:42 AM

I am sure lots of people drink espresso....

Diana Jerzyginger74 Saturday, November 27, 2010 4:43:06 PM

I have a cheapie Black and Decker programmable that my mother-in-law bought me for Christmas. (You know you're an addict when relatives get you coffee and coffee makers as gifts and you're ecstatic). I'm angling for a Kuerig for this Christmas. smile

In the early 1960's U.S. Navy, I liked the Navy's low (less likely to tip-over on the table in heavy seas), thick (quickly cools a bit too hot coffee, but keeps it warmer longer), white/off-white ceramic mugs. They should not be too deep, so you can easily reach the bottom to clean it, and wide enough to get an adult's fingers in to better clean it. Preferably the ceramic does not crack much with age. Features that can be improved: the inside bottom "corners" (LOL: in a round mug?) should have rounded (not 90*) fill for easier "corners" cleaning. Also make the bottoms have enough outside bottom, side-indenture notches so they can be safely stacked three-high, to take up less room in the cabinet. On the cup's insides at least (or all over); a light brown color the color of coffee stains, would mute that problem. I once had rusty water (everyone did); the solution for shower curtains was buy the color "rust red" curtains. Brew over other suggestions for building a better individual coffee cup?

I use a Sunbeam electric coffee pot and it works GREAT for me daily!

Kathy Guillemettekjguillemette Wednesday, January 12, 2011 10:40:04 PM

Bunn and Cuisinart K-Cup. Love being able to get a quick cup with little to no effort!

Greg HayesChewietwo Monday, January 24, 2011 11:24:17 AM

I use cheap mr coffee drip coffee makers. Coffee pots wear out fast around my place. If i'm home pots on! Doesn't take long to burn one out. Lol As for coffee i love ravens brew. My favourite one is "two pecker billygoat".

DebbieCoffeeBandit Wednesday, February 2, 2011 9:37:24 PM

I also have a Bunn coffeemaker. it does make some good coffee. When I bought mine a few years back, it was $89.oo. Now it;s $130. Wow. Hope mine don't go out.

Kumelys Wednesday, February 16, 2011 6:26:41 PM

A turkish (or rather arabic style) coffee pot works best for me... Another option is french press (when I am in a need of larger quantities than just two mugs). Somehow I don't like the machines, got one at home, but don't use it all, the turkish brew seems much more tasty (and stronger) than anything once you get used to it (and improve your technique of brewing).

Mike BerningerPacerfan33 Thursday, March 31, 2011 5:11:08 PM

I didn't care for coffee for most of my life. My wife has always loved coffee and got me hooked. Now I use our cheap Mr. Coffee every morning with Folgers special roast and drink it on the drive to work. I wouldn't miss it!
