If you find yourself (lately) running out of superlatives.
Or; if you find yourself doubting the collective unconscious,
you need to see this film for yourself. Nay, you owe it to the
rest of humanity to see the film: Man on Wire.
Philippe Petit is that wire-walker who crossed the gap between
the twin towers (WTC) on a wire in 1974.
Now the french are an inventive, curious and creative people.
Not the least of their inventions is the Aeroplane. But I need to
tell you that all of that may pale in comparison to the creation
of Petit. And it is a creation. He sometimes twists tales a bit.
But that said, the man is amazing. A true wire walker in the French
tradition of wire-walkers. In the DVD, they've recreated scenese
with actors to recreate the amazing sneaky maneuvers that were
required to pull of this Heist of believabilty. You're going to
have to suspend belief while you watch the film. Or is it that
Petit is suspended himself? It's a true account to be sure: But
you willnot believe it yourself. Here's to the French!
Also, the film takes it's title Man on Wire from the inscription
on the police report that was officially filed after his crossing.
The police, unable to come up with a concrete charge against him
simply scrawled: Man on Wire in the Charge section of the report.
Sound too good to be true? Maybe it was. Man on Wire, **** watch the ending, tuffguy
