Not a fact, a theory!?

Exchange Site

, , , ...

I've always wanted to create a large online system and community. It has always been a goal for me to start something which will not only make a large amount of money/income, but also become popular amongst internet users.

I recently grabbed the opportunity to create my own exchange site which will mainly be exchanging e-Gold for VirtualMoney and the other way around. For those of you whom don't know VirtualMoney...it's basically a debit card which is attached to a US checking account, and can be used at any ATM worldwide to withdraw money. I have two of these cards, and they work great.

So I met up with a distributor of these cards and other related workings. He agreed to make me a reseller of these cards, and give me normal reseller exchange rates for loading these cards with e-Gold.

My site's name is 'QuattroCash'. I have not yet officially launched the site though. The script and all backend coding is done, but there are a few things which needs to be finalized before I can allow users to sign up and start exchanging. I'm very excited about this one, and I have faith that it will grow to become a large "payment processor" so to say.

As you all know, everything has to start somewhere. When I launch this site it will be pretty basic, with 5 different processing methods. Though I have many great ideas which will be implemented in the future such as selling and buying e-Gold via bank wire. Possibly PayPal as well...but this could be a problem with chargebacks and all that stuff.

Anyways...
Wish me good luck with this. I will make a post here as soon as the site has been officially launched. Some of you might be using e-Gold regularly...even on a daily basis, and could find this site and specifically these VM cards useful.

AntiPixel Buttons

, , , ...

After validating my website, I needed some stylish validation buttons/links to put below the footer. A few times I've seen those pixel buttons with the Silkscreen font, which is also used by Opera for certain things.

The result of a little bit of searching gained me the most amazing buttons in '.psd' format.
I have attached two '.gz' archives to this post since I decided to share these great buttons with everyone whom might have been looking for them. I have also attached the font used for these buttons to this post. Enjoy!

They are really great, and best of all is the fact that they are in '.psd' format which means that you can edit them. I'm using them on my site right now.

New Domain & Design

For those of you who know me, will remember that I used to have my personal website on a different domain name and server. The domain name is/was contrid-intelligence.com which is still active with an outdated portfolio and an ugly design. I won't take it down, but I will rather leave it to erode until the hosting expires.

Anyhow...
I recently purchased a more appropriate domain name, and purchased a new server where I will be hosting all my sites. I have several other websites which I am also working on at the moment, and I will post updates here...possibly place links in the sidebar.

As the saying goes : "One can never be satisfied with your own work.". I've mostly been relying on the opinions and comments of other people as I built this site. Even though I've been wanting to revamp the design about 63,729 times, I've received many compliments and decided to keep it.

The new site is currently under construction and can be seen at contrid.com. Most of it is basically done, except for the portfolio part. I have much sorting to do, and I'm also creating a small database which will save a huge amount of time on the long run, rather than having a large amount of static pages.

Enjoy the site, and please post your comments and suggestions here.

Welcome to Contrid Intelligence

, ,

Good day all readers/users,

I am Antonie Potgieter, the owner and founder of a very small, but yet fast growing web development company named 'Contrid Intelligence'.

This blog will be used as a medium for me to post updates regarding my work, and share my experiences from day to day. I will update the blog regularly, and will place a link on my website for Opera users to keep track of my posts.

This is a welcoming post to welcome all readers/users to my website, and to notify you that my website is currently under construction. It's nothing huge really...but rather just a site with my work, and more information about Contrid Intelligence.

Attached to this post is a screenshot of a small part of the site. You may also visit the site on http://www.contrid.com. Enjoy!

All the best,
Antonie (contrid)

Programming - Language or Purpose!?

, , , ...

As we move towards the area of computers, technology, internet and other related areas, we start to wonder where it all came from, and how everything works.

Well...
At the end of the day, all of this was and is programmed using languages, which is understood by digital devices and parsed as binary and hexidecimal code.

My question is :
There are so many different programming languages available, which could all more or less serve the same purpose. They all aim more or less at the same goal, and many of them can be used to accomplish the same task.

I am a PHP and MySQL web developer and designer. I create websites, scripts and other internet back end systems. Not only do I use PHP for online/remote communication, but if I really wanted to, I could build full desktop/offline applications which could run through a browser and store data in a MySQL database.

I guess it's quite logical that these different platforms, programming languages and back end systems were created and developed by different companies. I see it this way : Intel and AMD are both digital electronic devices developing companies, mainly known for the CPU's they develop. They both serve the same purpose....which is to make a PC run, but which is better?

Think about it. Let me know what you think.

Thanks.
Best,
Contrid.
