email, domain, google apps, gmail
...
I really enjoy using the Gmail interface, but I kept on asking myself whether it will create a bad impression if I were to use my free, Gmail account for business purposes. Off course it is much better to use a personal email address with your own domain name...but the problem is that I really don't enjoy using email clients, offline mail, etc...
I recently learned that I actually have the ability to use the Gmail interface (and other Google applications) with my own domain name/s. In order to do this, I had to create an account at
http://www.google.com/a/ and change some settings with my hosting provider. For the email, I only needed to change the mail exchanger records...which is the server that the mail gets redirected to.
Give it a shot! If you really like the Gmail interface...and other Google apps, but you would like to use your own email address and domain name, there is no sweat at all.

whois, whois search, domain search, whois lookup
...
Have you ever wanted to see if a domain name you wish to register is available, but you weren't sure where to check?
With this nifty little script I uploaded to my server, anyone can search for domain names to see if they have been registered or not.
