"A few days later, Amelia was on the inaugural flight of TAT's 'East to West' passenger service aboard the Ford trimotor City of Washington for the outward flight to Los Angles. Simultaneously, Charles Lindbergh was flying a similar airplane from Los Angles on the eastbound inaugural flight. The two planes landed in Arizona, where Lindbergh changed airplanes and flew the City of Washington on to California." [Kingman was a Transcontinental Airway Transport (TAT) airport.]

"Several days later she landed at Fly field in Yuma, Arizona, to gas up for the final leg of her journey to Los Angles. ..., onlookers helped push the plane into position for takeoff. ... Suddenly the Avian was nose down in the sand. ...no damage was done."
