One year and a few months ago, I tested Compiz Fusion 0.6.x. At that time,
I found that Compiz Fusion was in a much rougher shape than Beryl, and chose not migrate to Compiz and keep using Beryl.
However, due to
my latest issue with nvidia-drivers, I'm now forced to move to Compiz. In this post, I will compare how much has it improved, since the last time I tested it.

This post is just to document an error I've just had. Since it is the very first time it occurs, I suppose it might be just a "random", non-reproducible, hardware error.
Note, however, that I've not solved my previous issue with nvidia-drivers yet. I'm still looking for help about that. Update: If found an workaround for my previous issue: use Compiz instead of Beryl. I don't feel it is "solved", but this workaround appears to work for me.

Lesson: if you have your Linux system running well, don't update the nvidia driver, and don't update your kernel. If you do, you might end up like me, with a non-working nvidia driver.

Note: this post was intended to be written and posted circa 2008-07-19, but I left it half-written for about one month.So, as you can read on my
previous post, I've installed the brand-new 2.6.26
linux kernel. And then the older
nvidia drivers didn't want to compile, so I was forced to update them. And finally I could put my Wi-Fi card in ad-hoc mode.
