Woohoo! Finally I could get my ralink card work in Master mode! My previous attempt was about
2 months ago.
It seems to work, but now it's almost 4:00 AM and I haven't had enough time to really test it. But my notebook can see and connect to my desktop-working-as-access-point, and I need to document this victory!

As you may know, I've previously tried to make my desktop Wi-Fi card to work as an Access Point. [1] [2] [3] [4] After all those tries, I had given up and set up the ad-hoc mode. However, I still want to set it up as an access point, and yesterday I tried again.

This week I've been using the notebook in a more "mobile" way than before. I mean, using it for about 2 hours (usually without being connected to AC), and then closing it, walking outside to grab a snack, and then walk back to another room. Thus, the battery charge level is becoming a lot more important for me than it was before. Also, booting it up and shutting it down about every 2 hours is being a pain.
Thus I think I finally need a battery monitor and suspend/hibernate. And that's what I've done this week!
