My system, my notebook - xkcd

If you've read my posts earlier this week, you probably know that I've been installing Gentoo/Linux on my notebook.
Of course I could have choosen something else, like something with almost everything pre-configured, with all the important packages (like a battery monitor) already installed and working, but no! What is the fun in that? How can we learn how things work?
Then comes xkcd with a comic that couldn't be better well suited to me (look at the third frame):

And regarding Gentoo/Ubuntu, you can either have a system that is truly configured to your system (Gentoo) or something that's made generic (Ubuntu). I figured that I liked to have the generic one on my notebook at the time I installed Linux onto it, as it was a real pain in the neck to find the sufficient drivers. Especially for the WiFi-adapter. Ubuntu had sufficient drivers precompiled into the kernel, while Gentoo -- was like Gentoo usually is. :-)
Good luck setting up your notebook. :-)

So, I'm not out of drivers, fortunately.

Hello Denilson,
great page, a lot of help, thank you,
I use avr-as and avrdude to program my little atmega168 project using the tools on my Mac OS X . It works just fine. However, I wold like to learn more asm using web based examples compatible with tavrasm.
Did you have any advice if and how I could compile tavrasm on my OS X, so far I had no luck (just calling the night off).
Any help is most appreciated,
***

Actually, I have some friends who have Mac OS X, so I might ask them, but not right now (we are a bit busy with other projects, and I also need to build a USB programmer). When I go back working with microcontrollers, I will remember to ask them and post the results in the blog.
Oh, next time, please post the comment under the right blog post, ok? It makes more sense and it is better for anyone who reads the blog.
