These kinds of paintings are very freeing. Not sure exactly what they are called but I call them 'abstract expressionism'.
I like that term better than what one art professor called them..... 'non-representational'. To me, that's kind of negative. But then, maybe he was trying to tell me something. He was the type that liked everything precise and in between the lines.

Glad they feel freeing to you, Pam. They are a total blast to do!

CultureSurfer 31. August 2009, 16:11

I don't know what they're called either.

I can just imagine you up to your elbow with paint and the relaxing expression in your face, painting is grand ,no?

CultureSurfer 31. August 2009, 16:48

It feels INCREDIBLE! But actually, I am a very neat painter since I am painting in the basement. If I had a whole studio, trust me I'd be throwing paint all over the place! p:

Do you paint?

Phantom2 31. August 2009, 17:20

These are really kinda cool! Very pleaseing to the eye if you stare at them for a moment.

I didn't know you were into painting.

CultureSurfer 31. August 2009, 17:30

Thanks, P2.

Hoping people feel a sense of balance looking at them.

Just found out I was into painting.

You know, in looking at these again, I'm seeing things in them. I do this with my own paintings. In the top one, upper right, I see a white hummingbird or perhaps a seahorse. In the orange one, upper/center right, I see two little white beady eyes of a 'being' peering out at you. :D No drugs or alcohol involved in seeing these things.

@Angeliki-What kind of painting do you do? Care to share? p:

@Pam-I LOVE that you are finding things in the paintings. All I want is that people have some sort of experience (prefferably positive).

All I know is thatI am having so much fun doing them that I don't think I can stop.

I like the second, "Red Hot Calm". I feel that way a lot.

:D

Thanks to both of you.
