Sunset Paintings

, , , , , , , ,

Since almost everyone sees a sunset or water when they look at my paintings, I decided to take a whack at painting from photos of actual sunsets. While the paintings may not look much like the original photos, the photos have inspired a new and more complex style in my work.

we had a sunset today like your first work Naomi!
do you take a picture and paint or you play with colors?

That top painting is beautiful. Second is nice, but the colors just pop out at you in the first.

Angeliki, I'm taking the sunset photos from pics people have posted online (with permission ,of course). The first painting is quite close to the original photo; the second isn't.

Star I personally like the second one much better than the first one. The first one is a bit too intense for me. I like the softness of the second one. But to each his (or her) own! smile

yours are very colorful !
did you ever make a portrait of Big Bird?

Naomi CultureSurfer Monday, September 26, 2011 1:30:38 PM

Thanks, Angeliki.

Actually, I don't like all of my paintings and I've talked to other artists who say the same about their work.

No, I haven't done a portrait of big bird. Sticking with abstracts at this point. How is your painting going?

smile artists will never stop improving ...that's what makes their work unique.

I want to finish a few pieces for Yannis' house in Florida.
I did stencil his dining room when I was there smile

Have you ever been to Ft.Meyers?

Naomi CultureSurfer Tuesday, September 27, 2011 1:38:51 PM

I didn't even know Yannis was in Florida. For school, I imagine? I've never been to Ft. Meyers. I was only in Miami and I was 9. p

The first one reminds me of magma.

Naomi CultureSurfer Sunday, October 30, 2011 9:57:29 PM

I actually have another painting called "Magma," strangely enough. How are you doing, Edward? I haven't been on Opera much, so I'm not in the loop.
