Paintings inspired by live music

, , , ,

I've had the opportunity twice now to paint along to live, improvised music. Not only does painting with live musicians get me out of the isolation of my studio, but live music just gets to your soul in a way that recorded music just can't.

there is something new and special about these two, Naomi! really nice! the top even looks something like a real life image of water/reflections...

Thanks, Jill. I take risks when I paint to improvised music that I wouldn't ordinarily take.

I neglected to read the title "Sonogram" on number two. interesting the titles of both.

I decided on "Latitude" since it's a horizontal painting. One of the musicians who played right next to me while I did the second one commented that it was like a sonogram, i.e. a drawing of sound. cool
