Was that a beer in Justin's hand? lol, cool.

I rarely take the time to watch videos, but was glad I did on this one. Lots of information and exposure to things outside of my usual realm.

Vid quality and music were superb. Thanks.

That's a greally great show. And I think the "screw-in" nature of it is the best thing, making it portable. Out on the street, stuff like that tends to get painted over in no time. So maybe some of this could be preserved.

So, Naomi, did you have that guy pimp your ride as well? Cause that really would be cool -- and great advertising!

And BTW, congrats on your video and all the hard work.

Yup, those boys were partaking and a bit slap happy from working an insane numbers of hours on that project. Glad you liked the video. It kind of breaks the pre-conceived notion of St. Louis being conservative.

I don't think my Ford Focus would look so great pimped out but hey, the idea of putting the surfing kokopelli all over my car is pretty cool. p:

Collaboration amongst artists is fantastic! Great video - my only question is that I wonder what it would have looked like to have a mixed gender collaboration? I wonder if there would have been more tension, more synergism and dynamic movement. Just curious - is this a mens' movement?

Interesting question. I am interviewing one of the guys Saturday night (he has another opening) & will ask him about why no women were involved. My first thought is that there aren't a lot of women doing graffiti art.

Having said that, you might be interested in this video in which I interviewed a graffiti crew, including one woman:

yes, you're probably right - I wonder though . . . does that say something about an innate difference in the sexes, may or may not? thanks anyways.

Paint Louis

How are you doing, Matt?

Susthama, again, an interesting question. I've also thought about this but have not come up with any conclusions.

Paint Louis was an even that happened for two years - I think '99 and 2000. They invited grafiti artists and taggers from all over the country to "compete," and each team had two days to make their mark on the flood wall. If you walk along the flood wall south of the city, you may be able to see what remains. It went on for over half a mile. I think I have some pictures of the 2000 art at home. I'll make a gallery, if I can find them.

Re: female taggers.

I'm well, Naomi. Still job hunting, but otherwise fine. How are you?

Apparently, it was 3 miles. I knew it was long, but I didn't realize it was that long.

Paint Louis videos on you tube: [1] and [2], a video shot from a car window that gives you some idea of the length of the project, miscellaneous video/

You can still see the remnants, though there have been some tags over the top.

Yea, I've heard about the wall & was planning to make my own video of it at some point for the site. Thanks for the info-will include the link on my site.

Naomi - your blog rocks!

I loved the video. Your professionalism, your interview style, your personality, all help to make your videos cool and fun and to watch. One time I was in Havana, Cuba, I was strolling along the Malecon, it's a paseo de maritimo, and just happened to glance down at a bollard and there was a "graffiti" by the elusive british street artist known as banksy. Check out the following on YouTube:

I think you'll like it

Loku, thank you so much! I've hit burnout & am frustrated as the one-year anniversary of the site is September 1st & I have yet to figure out how to make money doing this. I'm kicking back a a bit, trying to figure out how to move this baby forward..

I know about Banksy! I saw a piece on tv about him a while ago & someone else suggested I ask him if I can use one of his videos. Thanks for the link.

Naomi - I feel for you! I used to mange contracts to build satellite dishes in my days in braodcasting. I know it's a tightrope situation, but your experience and coverage and the resulting publicity will be silently working out its cause and effect and I am sure you will turn the corner and reach the target soon. Best thing right now (whatever time it is where you are) is to lay back, kick your shoes off, turn the phones off and take a break. It may only be 30 minutes or what ever you decide but you must 'turn off' for a moment and think of something else. Refresh those brilliant batteries of yours and that wonderful driving and driven mind for a short while. It will re-energise you. I'll write more later. I have to take a break myself now. You are the sum of all your parts and that's a marvel of business and enthused acumen
