Materials of Time

Afternoon Wandering

Blossoms tickle toes
From the dew drops sprouting growth
Perfumed poems with no sound

Skipping through the day
Compliments of sunshine beams
Entwined with the cloud's soft rain

You are an amazing poet, Cynthia. You take feelings that other people find too vague to even be aware of and put them into beautiful words.

Lois, that is just the nicest thing for you to say. Thank you so much for the kindness within your compliment.

You did it again; produced a verbal image I'll carry with me for some time.

Thank you, Mr. Ricewood. Sincerely, thank you for saying this. It's the photographers that helped jar it out of me.

I think what I like best, is the feel in every work. You love to write, and it shows in the elegance achieved with the words you offer

Columbine, so lovely!

Thanks! It is a very old part of the yard.

do you enjoy it? does it keep spreading? I love my Columbine and intentionally break of the tops to spread more each year, however I imagine at one point I will say enough... what is the flower in the background? pretty the way it's set.

By studio41, # 19. August 2008, 03:22:44

Thanks! Yes, I very much enjoy it. All of the pink in the picture is the same flower. I do the same thing with the tops each year. This is actually not part of the yard, but part of the hillside. It is so hard to cut the grass there. You cannot use a lawn mower in that area, so I am very happy it spreads.

a hillside like that is a wonderful canvas for all sorts of wildflowers, I imagine... Columbine is a great photo op, it's so delicate, feminine and complex-- just like a lady!

It really is a very feminine flower especailly in the pale pink. This year I found another sort of columbine growing up towards the trees. It is very different than the traditional one here. Here's a photo http://my.opera.com/Cynthia23/albums/showpic.dml?album=514274&picture=7260589 of it. I quickly dug it up and moved it. I didn't want it to disturb this wonderful path of flowers.

I was delighted to see a very pale pink sort in my garden this summer, too... I didn't know if it was a variety from a friend or if because I spread the seed around it turned a different shade due to more acidic soil... I just wondered...

By studio41, # 20. August 2008, 01:38:07

The light shade of pink are the ones that were planted here a few decades ago, the dark purple was the one that I had not seen before. I will send an email to a friend that can answer this question for us. I'll let you know when I get a response.
