Opera 9.5 Beta 2 for Linux - Native skin Bug

, , , ,

The picture says it all. It appears that the native skins are not native enough.

How to reproduce it? Just run Ubuntu, install Opera 9.5 beta 2 and then download the ubuntu-studio theme pack (or any other black theme), apply the theme and then run Opera.

Opera becomes unreadable and almost unusable. I'm talking about menus, context menus, buttons and everything else. All dark. Background and foreground (text) does not contrast like other applications such as OpenOffice.org, Firefox, GIMP, Pidgin, etc.

Filled as bug #326332

What happens when you apply a new skin to Opera? I have no idea how the native skin looks, as it is the first thing I change, when I install Opera.

I had a similar problem on my WinXP, just that it was Eclipse that didn't work, after changing my skin to a much darker one.

If the skin is native, the text and background remain black.
If it's a non-native skin, almost everything looks good, except for the menu bar which remain black/black.

Have you tried qt-config?

Nope. Why?

Opera is build on Qt3 library, so install the package (qt-config or qtconfig or qt3-config – they are the same, it depends on repository) and tune up your Opera's look (fonts, colors, etc). Looks better a bit, so why not.
