Some thoughts for those in need.

Hello to all.

Today I had to render a bad diagnosis at work too many times. One is too many.
The most important aspects of delivering quality health care I think....is being accurate...and...ensuring the patient's dignity at all times is respected and actively stewarded.
Here is a wish of strength, hope, and healing warmth to all those that find themselves in pain or afraid.

Today's thoughtFreedom

Hey we know your job is very very hard, but you are the Kind
of people we need in the medical field!!! Whether it be bad
news or not!!!! It's the thought that you pour every ounce of
yourself into that job and that you want nothing but good
news to come from it. Yes we all know with it comes the
ups and downs and we pray for more ups. But all is ok!!
Why? BECAUSE YOU GAVE YOUR EVERY OUNCE INTO IT!!!!! YOUR HEART!!!
So I say to you: THANK-YOU!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
GOD has shined his light upon you. He has given you many
gifts and tallents!!
Cajun Queen.

When my daugher was quite young, she had a recurring kidney infection. We saw the village doctor at my parent's cottage. He took all kinds of time to show her a plastic kidney, showed her where hers was going wrong and what the medicine would do for her. I must have looked a little antsy, because he told me that he was aware that there was a waiting room full of patients, but at that moment my daughter was the most important person in the world to him. That statement had such a huge impact on us both! His dedication led her into the same profession! Kind and dedicated people such as yourself, even delivering bad news are very much appreciated. You may never know how far your kindness and concern may spread.

We all can make a difference. Thanks for the wonderful story about your precious daughter.

What a wonderful thought. Thanks for taking the time to think of others, and wish for their comfort. So often we do not, and it's so easy to get caught up in our own problems, we forget the crosses that others bear.

Thank you so much, Sabrina. I do thank you for your warm thoughts and taking the time to share them. You are kind. Take care.

did I mention I'm a nurse (altruistic in theory) and I'm nordic?

You had me at 'who is that wacko?'.

This site is very zen and oozes psychotherapy. Where is my couch. My feet are swollen and I have a very long story.

And in my job I am the one who deals with someone 'after' the news has been delivered. I come home thankful (most nights).

I promise those words with wacko in it were not mine. In that post I just said... "Hello...and pardon me if I take a more sedate and level tone than the previous reply" ( http://my.opera.com/pushme-pullme/blog/show.dml/1542952?cid=4145330 ). Thanks for your comments, and your service in your career. Sorry for any confusion or anything that came out wrong. Hope your week ahead is a good one.

You are very kind to deal with your patients like that. I have been through so many doctors, many are so rushed, I only see them for 5 min. I was recently in 3 hospitals within a month in a half. 2 were the same hospital and I wasn't treated very well there. The last hospital I was taken by ambulance and that hospital I was treated like a queen. I could not believe how much time the doctor spent with me and the nurses were always asking if I needed something. I was amazed. And recently I had a surgery that just did not work so I went to this doctor who has given me a month to try his treatment plan, if it does not work out, (which I pray it will), he will have to remove my entire colon, and he cannot guarantee my survival on the table. I had problems just going through that small procedure so he calls me a very high risk patient. And this isn't even my tumor surgery. So this year is a very tough year for me medically. I have had 3 mini strokes and that is why I was in the hospital and my colon has just decided to stop working. My doctor told me my insides are not working very well. But again, this doctor was so great, he took the time to explain things and show me diagrams and everything. Those are the kind of doctors we need. Not the ones who give you 5 min. of their time and say okay, well here is your medicine and I will see you back in two weeks.

I am glad you take your time and care. You are a rare gem.

(p.s. Don't forget to sign my guestbook. )

Thank you Christy. I am deeply touched. I think you're wonderful, I shall pray for you.

Thank you, Mark.

And never stop being your wonderful caring self.

We need more doctors like you. Even when we get bad news, it helps to have a compassionate doctor.
