Today

Today, on my long commute homeward from a challenging day at work...amid a crystal blue winter sky, I found myself adrift with melancholy feelings. I suppose the beautiful Christmas sounds chiming from my Sirius, of Handel's and Bach's renderings, contributed to the equation. Christmas memories are precious if one has precious memories of childhood Christmases. I have been blessed thereto. And I am greatful. It's funny...how you can have tears of missing loved ones that have passed....as you simultaneously smile as if you are...through the magic of an old Christmas Carol...transported back in time to your living room floor with your family of your youth..cradled with the anticipation of what Santa will bestow.I do believe in magic. I'll see it my children's eyes very soon Christmas morn.

I am usually filled with somber meloncholy (but maybe that is just my Finnish depression genes) during the holiday season. People get caught up in gifts and impressing a la Martha style.
I'm still somewhere between a bad party game and a case of beer kind of holiday celebrater. The older I get, the more it is about doing what feels right and warms my heart. Now it's easier to see it through my children's eyes, even though they despise Santa. Case in point: visit

Christmas was like magic when I was a little girl : all family with parents, cousins, uncles, etc...moments of joy and serenity
I still love Christmas now. For me it's a special time to pray and think of others, and of course to put decorations at home
I wish you plenty of happiness and joy with your family
