Some things about...me

Hello..I'm Mark, from Louisville, Kentucky, USA. I reside in the very town I grew up in, which is either pathetic or poetic, or a bit of both...but I like it, it's home, and home is to be celebrated. My 47th year finds me the privileged Dad of 4 wonderful kiddoes, ages 5, 10, 16, and 19, and hubby to my incredible wife Sara. My job title is "Specialist In Cytotechnology". As to what a cytotechnologist is...I work with a Pathologist group in a hospital...I process and diagnose body fluids for possible cancer cells, as well as diagnose pap tests. Initially in college I was in business school, but lost my Mom when I was 19 to breast cancer, which propelled me into my field, which I feel is my calling. It can be very depressing too many times, but it is needed, and I again tomorrow would chose the same path if so presented. Perhaps my love for the arts and music and poetry are part of my need to offset the sad nature of my profession..who knows.
Okay..so why am I on Opera? Valid question.I had downloaded Opera as an altenative browser last year..and recently clicked on their Community page..then said basically, "Why not?" To be able to exchange...views...images..ideas... of someone else's world...halfway across the globe..is truly awesome.
Of prime importance to me nothing surpasses being "Dad". Some of the other things I value deeply...are Art (Impressionism. Baroque, Rococo, Surrealism)//Music..(MANY genres)..Solitude, Poetry, Introspection, Honesty, Laughter....and hopefully always realizing that each and every day is a gift..and that most people are well-intentioned good people.

Appreciative

MarkCytoMark Saturday, November 24, 2007 6:30:07 PM

Thanks Christy. I so admire how you keep upbeat and show resolve. Nothing can keep you down...stay strong. smile

Christygreathoneybear Saturday, November 24, 2007 8:22:49 PM

Ze, slowly, the doctor wanted me back in the hospital yesterday, but I am trying to stay home. He told me bedrest for at least a month. I am having home care twice a week. I just have to stay practically off my feet.

But hey my good friends at Opera will entertain me. bigsmile

P.S. Thanks Mark, I try not to. I, along with my other moderators, just finished a poetry group. I wanted this group to be a place where people could write what they feel or even just post their favorite poems. So far, so good.

José Torreszetorres Saturday, November 24, 2007 8:59:32 PM

We want you better Christy:up:up

Christygreathoneybear Saturday, November 24, 2007 9:19:41 PM

Thanks, Ze.

This time was worse than the last. But hey I am like the bunny in those energenizer commercials. I keep on ticking. lol

I believe you just have to keep on doing things to keep your mind off the pain. I had a blood clot that went to the brain which caused a mini-stroke. The worse part was the shots they used to dissolve the blood clot. But hey I'm still here.

Now, I'm ready for entertainment. Well, as much as you can have pretending. lol I will have to hold off on my belly dancing and salsa dancing for another day. smile

José Torreszetorres Saturday, November 24, 2007 9:25:09 PM

I want dance with you soon:lol: in a party dance:lol:

Christygreathoneybear Saturday, November 24, 2007 9:27:35 PM

I am good. I love to dance. I even have an authentic belly dance outfit and salsa dance outfit. Of course, doctor's orders, can't dance for one month. sad

José Torreszetorres Saturday, November 24, 2007 9:50:16 PM

I'll wait for you one month:)smilesmile

hi nice to meet you I especially liked your piece on arrogance....and enjoyed some of the styling of your poetry and I can understand what you say about cancer - as someone who has had to deal with it in varying circumstances thes last number of years....

and I noticed you were from kentucky - the year I was in Kentucky 1999 was the year my mother in law was diagnosed..... I was then even undeceide as to whether I should have gone at the time.....but choose not to regret - at least not too much....

hope to see you share some more of your poetry.....

MarkCytoMark Friday, December 7, 2007 2:53:22 AM

Thank you. I appreciate your warmth..your openess..and your honesty. smile

Hi Mark, I used to travel to Owensboro regularly. Love the Northeast, have been to New York also. Don't like the town I live in much, however, I've been sick so I'm learning to like it better, it's vividly black and white, I was never taught prejudice. I finally got over it (the racism on both sides) when I discovered that the blacks being mean had father's and mother's that had seen burning crosses and lynchings in their front yard and are still living and pass that on to their children, so I make myself safe to them.

I got confused, because being black, doesn't necessarily mean you were a decendant of a slave. Got off topic. . .I do that

I burned a CD not to long ago called I've been Whacked (combination of Black and White) Bite didn't sound good. Anyway, the dream of Martin Luther did not happen here, which is it's opening sound bite, the first part of the speach. But progress has been made.

I like music, computers, used to be a people person, until sickness isolated me. I'm glad you happily married. I am not. I am getting well and enjoy your blog. I visit it quite regularly.heart

I always smile at each thoughtful comment you leave...and am deeply appreciative. Let us hope your health is fully restored soon, and further, let us dream of a color-blind world in which judgement, when made toward a human being, is soley upon one's character and actions, and not upon the amount of pigment in one's epidermis.
