Hi Steve, pls I need your advice concerning my blog.
What sort of advice did you wish?
To make it more friendly!
Not the best person to ask in that regard ... my blog doesn't win any awards. However, let's see what I can suggest ... Don't be too controversial. An exposition on Islam isn't going to win too man friends. Given Al-Quaeda, a lot of people associate Islam with terrorism. And of course many people are so ingrained in their own religion that they won't listen to opposing viewpoints. I'm not saying "don't talk about religion" - that's up to you - but don't present it as an exposition on the faith. Make it just a friendly discussion. Allow people to disagree without saying "I'm right and you're wrong" (which you didn't
really do anyway, I thought you handled it pretty well there). You can tell them why you believe as you do, but don't try to convert them (as such). If they like what you're saying, they'll look further. Religion isn't really a "head" issue, it isn't about rational argument. It's about what is in your heart. But as far as other topics ... well, write what you feel. Always be true to yourself. Feel free to show visitors that you're not a 1-issue person, but at the same time respect them.
You might look at a few of the better blogs for examples. But it's not so much the topics that you
want to examine as how they present things, and how they handle comments. You might look at Mad Scientist's blog - did you know they chose him as "member of the week" back on April 23rd? Serola is the latest member of the week, but more for his pictures (and yes, I was a member of the week too, but that was for what I do in the forums).
