Lose Your Home, Lose Your Right to Vote - WTF?!

, ,

So I'm browsing around where I get my news, and I happen to wander off on a random link and find this article that says "If you lose your home, you lose your right to vote"!

The Republican party is pushing it to become law! What the heck is going on in this country? Our leaders have lost their ever loving minds! Mind you, I don't have a mortgage on my house, and I'm one of the fortunate few who don't, but this really ticks me off.
If you lose your home, and you are told you cannot vote, tell them to shove off and exercise your right! This is still a free country, and we are American citizens.

These are Your Voting Rights:

"In a September 17, 2008 news release, NoVoterLeftBehind.net emphasized the four things every American going through home mortgage foreclosure needs to know about their vote:

• Voting is an inalienable right that you can’t lose due an inability to meet mortgage payments. If any Republican tries to tell you don’t different, don’t listen to him or her!

• If you are in the foreclosure process – but still living in your home – you still vote where you live. The foreclosure process itself does not bear on your right to vote or where you exercise that right.

• If you are forced to move due to foreclosure before the voting registration deadline, you should reregister at your new home location. Go to http://novoterleftbehind.net/knowrules.cfm to find your states rules on voter registration.

• If you move due to foreclosure after the voting registration deadline -- but before the election -- go to vote where you were last registered to vote. Keep in mind the following: You have the right to vote by signing an affirmation (or similar form) if your right to vote is challenged for any reason; and if your name isn’t on the registered voter list, you have the right to vote by provisional ballot." (NoVoterLeftBehing.Net, 2008).

Make it count, America - We need you at the voting polls on November 4th!

While we've been talking...Check it out - and then send it on. :)

yikes
I thought I did hear everything so far!!
can they get an absentee vote in this case ???
they must be able to vote,
these are the people that know what is going on
in the first place !!!!

DeniseDBabbit Thursday, October 9, 2008 4:42:05 AM

Provisional ballots allow you to vote in the area where you are registered. Perform a search for your state as this was updated in 2005 - I haven't found whether it's been updated since.

I would suggest you call the polling office to make sure you're registered. The DMV also allows you to register with them to vote, but find out where you need to show up on voting day.

I am sure some of the readers will find this info useful,
I am fortunate to live in my own place for the past 20 years. Isn't a shame to loose your home, your kids school, your church by moving out of your place and even you right of voting ?? wow!
If McCains is elected I am moving to Canada! this place is going to hell!

on a happier note smile
*hugs*

DeniseDBabbit Thursday, October 9, 2008 5:47:08 AM

I'll be selling and moving too. My place is on the family estate and fully paid for - I have a brother who will buy me out because he wants the property. This country has lost its backbone. I'll be heading to Western Canada, and taking my son with me. My daughter will be hard to convince. I'm already looking, and if I can help one of them get out, so much the better.

The news I've been hearing isn't good. The entire country of Iceland- is in bankruptcy - We can't be far behind.

{{Hugs}} back.

Angelikiellinidata Thursday, October 9, 2008 5:54:35 AM

a friend hired to work the polling place in san francisco where most homeless live was fired for telling too many of them about provisional ballots. homeless people are only allowed to vote if they provide a mailing address and no mail is returned. rather few can meet this requirement. a po box, general delivery, and local social services office are not accepted. i was self~sufficient as an organic urban farmer until my home was lost...

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 2:33:11 AM

Angeliki - It'll take me exactly 1 hour to pack. I wonder if Border Patrol STOPS one from crossing in the opposite direction? lol

Phantom, It's a well known fact Bush stole the election in 2004 - I wouldn't put it past the Republican party to try anything this time around either.

Thanks Henry! bigsmile And P Two t's avatar makes me dizzy! lol

Auralane - Sorry about your home. I'm afraid there are going to be more homeless before this crisis is over. Thanks for giving us some great info - If people aren't being told about this, it could be a huge win for the Repub's.

Phantom2 Sunday, October 12, 2008 2:53:16 AM

Ignorance is bliss eh? No one stole an election in 2004!
But some people are sure trying to steal this one for the Dems. Think for yourself and check the facts. Bandwagons are easy to fall off of.

Republicans have given us the Afgahnistan and Iraq wars, FEMA's f-up with the fiasco created when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, encourage pork barrel spending, ran up the national debt, scream racism, picked a woman to run for VP that is unheard of - and thinks lipstick on bulldogs is more important than talking about the economy - which they have refused to do until Wall Street started crumbling 2 weeks ago. Over 100,000 jobs have been lost since Bush became president. over 90,000 homes have been placed in foreclosure since August of this year. The cost of gas has risen over $3.00 a gallon in 1 year. I'm not the one who needs to wake up. There will be no Republican vote in my house!

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 3:25:33 AM

And while we're on the subject, McCain has no idea how to fix the economy and admitted it, and his VP running mate thinks it's better to talk about lipstick on bulldogs and avoid answering any questions by reporters, so we don't know a thing about her, other than she's a small town governor that likes soccor moms.

Angelikiellinidata Sunday, October 12, 2008 3:29:54 AM

I drive 4 old ladies from our building to the voting center in our area on the 4th on November to vote for Barack,
it will be a tragedy if these older people who have to decide btwn their meals and the cost of their medicines,
not to be able to have a voice because they can not walk far!
It is no Republican vote in our neighborhood either!
It is time for the ones who go and vote during their sleep walk
to wake up!
eight years and a debt that even our grandchildren will have to pay back it is enough reason for the sane to say enough!!!!

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 3:57:51 AM

Agreed! We all know Democrats raise taxes - and they don't lie about it like Bush # 1 with "read my lips" bunk that so many people believed it was unreal!

Phantom2 Sunday, October 12, 2008 4:39:20 AM

Congress is not controled by Repubs. and don't hold the purse strings in this country.
Rasise the taxes and prolong the misery?
Your obvious not old enough to remember the last 2 times we had a Dem. Pres. and a Dem controled congress,(1960-68 &1976-80) . They spent your future! They spent your social security funds for there pet projects and welfare state nonsence and left the country in a mess. And their at it again. Look for yourself where the spending went. look at the last 2 years of sending (minus the war) equals spending of the previous Presidents entire 8 bugets!
As for the war, I agree we did not handle it properly. But we didn't declare war....they did, 12 years ago! Remember?

Once again, THINK for yourself! ....and do your research if you don't believe me.

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 5:34:01 AM

For those of us who need to "brush up" on who is spending our future - read on.

Republicans are no better.

Spending lists

Phantom2 Sunday, October 12, 2008 5:53:42 AM

Your missing the point!
Congress is not controled by Repubs. and don't hold the purse strings in this country.

They cannot pass those spending bills without the DEMS votes. lol

$3 million by House Majority Whip James Clyburn, a South Carolina Democrat, for The First Tee, which aims to promote the game of golf among young people. The money was inserted into a military spending bill. yikes

....I say throw them all out of office and send some citizen politicans up there!

BTW...I'm not a Repub!

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 6:09:27 AM

Those bills are passed through so fast that no one has time to read everything. If that were possible, there wouldn't be any bills passed.

And I'm well aware of who controls Congress - and Pelosi should be impeached for not standing up and doing her job that she was elected for - and that was for impeaching Bush. Thank God we only have a few more days of him & Cheney left. Bush isn't running the show anyhow. He's just the point man, because Cheney is doing it.

I'd like nothing more than for the Dem & Repub parties to be disassembled. Both groups are nothing more than money hungry lawyers making a killing off "we the people!"

Phantom2 Sunday, October 12, 2008 6:22:22 AM

I don't agree that Bush has any impeachable offences, but I do agree with your last paragraph! yes

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 7:31:21 AM

bigsmile Well at least we can agree on something! lol

Phantom2 Sunday, October 12, 2008 7:37:54 AM

Oh I think we would agree on a lot if we had a beer or two! cheers

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 7:51:21 AM

lol Ya think? bigsmile

auraauralane Sunday, October 12, 2008 10:46:53 AM

all debate between Gops and Dems are misleading ~ both parties are filled with what can only be considered "corporate" sell~outs ~ technically Dems do not have the seats needed to be in full control of either legislative branch ~ but even if they did have those votes, Dems have proven as "unworthy" of the traditional party line as have the Gops failed to live up to theirs ~ all liberals vs conservatives talk seems inane when i look at voting records ~ so ~ we all seem equally disenchanted with both parties yet cannot unite on any third one ~ and who is to say a third is not as corruptible as all those in office now ~ i am not at all ron paulist yet i can support many of his reform proposals ~ like a sunlight bill that specifies voting on one issue at a time to stop backroom "pork" in final versions like the bailout was full of ~ if lobbyist and campaign reforms are not made there may be no point in voting for either party and~or any third one well~financed enough to win elections ~ am voting Obama cuz i do think he'll kill fewer people than McCain but both hypocritical pawns in my opinion ~ sigh ~ ps between Patriot Acts and Bailout am beginning to wonder if our original form of govt is dead ~ congress almost seems like a ceremonial mayor subservient to the city manager ~ which btw is the "net" result of how that bailout was worded ~ in such a way Paulson can take up to 700billion any number of times he decides without needing a congressional ok now

DeniseDBabbit Sunday, October 12, 2008 11:21:01 AM

From the way this bill went through, they "just wanted a number - a 'really, really big number'" That sunlight bill isn't such a bad idea. I'm voting Obama because we're spending billions on a war that is no longer ours - unless you count the oil fields, which BushCo. so desperately want. That's all we need is a democracy in the Middle East to rape, pillage, and plunder their people so we can rape, rob, and kill some more in our Corporate greed. The Dems & the Repubs are playing "He who owns the most toys wins" game, and frankly, I'm sick of it. I'm voting for Obama because I don't trust McCain. He's a racist B*, he knows nothing about economics, and he's got an idiot for a running mate.

Angelikiellinidata Sunday, October 12, 2008 1:17:17 PM

It's always the Republicans that come up with the vote barring clauses. A political party afraid of honest elections and people who are most likely to be disenfranchised for having every reason to be dissatified with the regime.

I'm with Muntadar al-Zaidi. W can have a pair of my size tens too. I'd like to tell you where he can stick 'em.

DeniseDBabbit Monday, December 15, 2008 2:48:11 PM

I'm with Muntadar al-Zaidi. W can have a pair of my size tens too. I'd like to tell you where he can stick 'em.

I did, Weatherlawyer, and I'm probably on his black list - You did hear about the "list," right? yikes Sounds eerie - anyhow, I sent him a nice little note when we went to war in Iraq. No child of mine will be serving in his war. I love America, but she sure isn't what she used to be. The kids going into the military are being lied to left and right about all the benefits they'll be getting - and then getting shafted when they come home wounded - I think it's absolutely disgusting. The innocent Iraqians aren't even being counted - and haven't been in awhile. And I still don't trust him. He's got another 41 days in office to cover his tracks. We need to change the law so the newly elected president becomes the president within the week of being elected, instead of nearly 3 months, and a law stating that no new bills can be passed without going through the House and Senate - Absolutely no more executive orders.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox now. lol BushCo. does get me worked up!

Weatherlawyer Monday, December 15, 2008 3:10:41 PM

It's very hard to stay neutral in the face of such effrontery. Any sane person wouldn't behave like that because of the ordinary laws of decency. That damned creature was spawned by something that doesn't even recognise your Federal laws.

The limp joke he made about the insult just about sums him and his party up. He hasn't got a shred of decency and the news casts portray the assailant as having been wrestled to the ground.

He fell over, he was so furious. Nobody made a move till he was down. Why they portray his security as effective is beyond me. But then, why the oaf is still alive begs more exacting questions about the GOP in times past.

DeniseDBabbit Monday, December 15, 2008 3:31:47 PM

I'm afraid the news crew has been bought out - except for RealNews.com, who is a member-supported news network. All the major players have been told to ignore everything that's going on on Capitol Hill because they're funded by Korporate AmeriKa. He's a front for Cheney, who has been running the show in the background. We did not hear one single thing that the VP has been doing in 8 years, except for shooting his best friend in the face - and that was an "accident"! (Humph, I bet!) You don't get to sit on your high horse and hide in the shadows for nothing!

MConor Monday, December 15, 2008 6:54:12 PM

lol If I ever see the legend who threw his shoe at george bush I am buying him a drink yes

Weatherlawyer Monday, December 15, 2008 7:06:56 PM

You'd buy a Moslem a drink?

I think you mean share a joint.

MConor Monday, December 15, 2008 8:00:22 PM

.........

DeniseDBabbit Monday, December 15, 2008 9:55:04 PM

lol Conor, ask Amir aka Night Wolf about those Moslem habits. bigsmile

MConor Tuesday, December 16, 2008 5:25:36 PM

Yeah some how I don't think he'd like that question much......

DeniseDBabbit Wednesday, December 17, 2008 4:52:36 AM

As long as you don't imply that he has those kind of habits, I think it might be ok.

MConor Wednesday, December 17, 2008 2:06:40 PM

Yeah I still dont think he'd like being asked that sort of question

DeniseDBabbit Thursday, December 18, 2008 9:09:53 AM

Ok, Have a go at this. There's also a charity group in London helping Jews and Moslims who are addicted to drugs. So, while Amir may not smoke the stuff - and I've no idea because I haven't asked him - it's true that Moslims can get as easily addicted as anyone else.

Weatherlawyer Thursday, December 18, 2008 12:10:29 PM

It was CIA intervention—in support of the Mujahedin who were fighting Soviet oppression in the early 1980s—which was crucial in turning Afghanistan and Pakistan from local suppliers into international ones by providing the necessary political protection and logistical networks.

The CIA in co-operation with Pakistan’s Interservices Intelligence supplied arms to the Mujahedin in return for payment in raw opium. It was only after Soviet withdrawal that the US gave serious monies to combat poppy seed production.

Pakistan had started the 1980s as a major producer of poppy seed, but government anti-drugs measures have virtually wiped out production (2 metric tonnes) by 1999.

Why can't people leave people alone?

I feel like I know what it was like to live in Italy in the 1930's.
