A poem I wrote when my dad passed away. The pastor read it at my dad's funeral service.


Why?
Why do I cry when I know he's in no more pain?
I cry because I wish I could of stopped his pain
and make him better.
Why do I cry when I know he's at peace in Heaven?
I cry because I felt helpless, there was nothing I could do
but stand by him and try to comfort him.
Why do I cry when I know he's lived a full life?
I cry because I think of what memories could of been
in the days and years ahead.
Why do I cry when I think of the times we've had together?
I cry because I LOVE this MAN and I MISS him oooh sooo much,
I cry because he is my DAD!!!
DAD, watch over me through the rest of my life and when my life
is through I will again be with you!!!

I read all you're poems, and they are all great, but this one is the most touching.
I know, I lost my Mom in 1970, and my Dad in 1972, and I know they were rejoicing in heaven the day I was saved, on Dec. 3rd 1976.
May the Lord continue to give you strength as you walk day by day close to Him. :smile:

My dad was a very kind and gentle man. I sure do miss him. I thank God that I have such wonderful parents.

Awwww.... more BIG o Hugs... :smile: They always make it better... Trying to bottle them... But it is hard for me to stay squeezed inside the little bottle... O,o I get all cramped up...

I think some of the lines have typos:
I could of stopped=I could have stopped.
What memories could of been=what memories could have been.:smile:

The I will again be with you, my sister tried to correct it and said:
I wll be with you again. UGH!!! I told her no way, that's not how I want it said. :D
