An email......:D

Computer 101
I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over.

Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong? He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless
inquired, "An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again."

Eric grinned.... "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"

"No," I replied.

"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure
it out."

So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T

I used to like Eric.............

Oh, I'm sure they will. It won't be long before I see that popping up on support tickets.
I am a service delivery manager for IT.
Up until now they have used little things like "user error", "educated user", or "can't reproduce error".

When you create an application-- say using MS Access-- you can write warning messages that say anything you want. I had one woman who kept trying to "hack" one of my applications, garbling the data-set in the process. I kept having to add differnt layers of permissions & security (she was just bright enough to be a menace). One hack I figured out she was using, I block at several access points, and the final error dialog box read:

What part of "don't do this" don't you understand?

She had to click on the "OK" button to clear the dialog box from the screen...

Absolutely! I learned more about database security dealing with that one user than I ever did from a book or college classroom...
