Hey this is from another competitior I thought you would like to know !
1. Why are there so many websites present in the SERPs related to Seraphim Proudleducks?
This phrase came about due to a contest organised by Salmonbones, shortly after the successful Nigritude Ultramarine challenge from DarkBlue. The objective is to optimise a website, and have it placed at the top spot in Google™ Search for the phrase "Seraphim Proudleduck".
2. Why was the phrase "Seraphim Proudleduck" chosen?
A phrase was needed that produced no results when searched for using Google™ Search, as this was to prevent the contest from interfering with legitimate websites within the SERPs. The word Seraphim was a suggestion from the organisers girlfriend, though.
3. What does the phrase Seraphim Proudleduck mean?
The phrase on its own means absolutely nothing, but the words individually have some type of meaning:Seraphim - This is one of an order of celestial beings; a special class of heavenly attendants of Yahweh's court. These guardians each have three pairs of wings; two of which to bear them up, two for veiling their faces, and the other two covering their feet. In ecclesiastical poetry and art, a seraph is represented as one of a class of angels.Proudleduck - This word is not found in the English language, so it's totally non-existant. It is, however, used as a nickname for a Sheffield Wednesday football player known as Adam Proudluck.
4. What is the duration of the contest?
The official starting date was supposed to be 1st September, 2004, but it was announced 18th August, 2004 in the salmonbones forums. The contest is to run for three months and finish on 1st January, 2005, at 1am GMT. If you haven't done so already, then you still have plenty of time to enter (at the time of writing this).
5. What are the prizes for winning the contest?
There are a total of four prizes for taking part in the contest:
First Prize: £1,000 for the highest ranking page in Google™ for the keyphrase "Seraphim Proudleduck"
Second Prize: £300 for the second contestants page down the Google™ rankings
Third Prize: £200 for the third contestants page down the Google™ rankings
Bonus Prize: A PR7 website for the top ranking image using Google Images™ Search
6. How will the contest be judged?
There will be 9 independent verifiers who will check the results from www.google.com, viewed in the UK, with safe-search off, on 1st January, 2005, at 1am GMT. Obviously a select group of people that don't feel like partying at the New Year!
