5 Things I Would Like To See in Opera (Always Under Revision)

hi This list is comprised of 5 feature, feature improvements or standard requests that I would like to see in Opera. I have more in mind but these are the features that I feel are needed more than others. (This list is not in any specific order)

Overview
1. Opera 10.5 Regressions fixed
2. Smarter Address Bar
3. 64-Bit
4. Improve the Opera Link
5. Remove the Fastforward and Rewind buttons

1. Regressions from 10.5 fixed.

2. A Smarter Address Bar. In this improvement there should be things like the Location Bar. Also this improvement should have smarter URL search. E.g. I type in the word "hippo" and the bar's dropdown list's first result should be Filehippo.com. With the current bar you would have to type in the word "File" first. Other feature possibilities are Autofill and the ability to delete previously typed addresses[/URL]. (Scratched-out part indicates implementation)

3. 64-Bit. Create a 64-Bit version of Opera. With this Opera could take advantage of systems' resources.

4. Improve the Opera Link. When improved the Opera Link should have the ability to synchronize passwords, skins, blocked content, buttons, layout, etc.

5. Remove the Fastforward and Rewind buttons in the default toolbar. This confuses users because they think there is two back and forward buttons. Also, this does not compliment Opera's interface because it makes Opera appear cluttered. This is an overwhelming first impression for the new user. No other browser has this feature, obviously they must think it is not very useful.

Opera's downfall is Opera does not implement competitor's browser features as quick as other browsers.

I think especially point 2 is important. Though Opera had the feature first if I remember correctly, the Firefox implementation is way better. Would love to see that in my favorite browser too.
You're right about the other four points as well btw up

Naming the private browsing mode Phantom just made me laugh, great name, & Opera needs a private browsing mode

Completely agree sherlock . Other browsers are wating around Opera whenever it lays a golden egg bandit.

Private Mode. Although I would not use it many people have requested this feature, because of this features popularity it will be on my list. I think Opera's version of Private Mode should be called "Phantom Mode" because Phantoms do not leave tracks and it has some irony thanks to the popular Opera Phantom of the Opera. Opera is the only browser of the 5 major browsers that lacks this feature

yeah

Mmmk, here is an updated one. If they implement all this I do not know what else they could implement. :scared: http://files.myopera.com/DanielHendrycks/files/wishlist.txt

I actually don't find it bad !!
those improvements would improve the Opera experience greatly

iNsuRRecTiON writes: Hi there, first Happy New Year 2010! :) Then I would add to that list, allow popup windows to stay outside the main Opera windows. All other browser do and allow this. But in Opera you cannot move them out of the main window. That is very bad and that's the main reason, I don't use Opera as my main webbrowser! regards, iNsuRRecTiON from Germany
