Growing Weed

Be Aware

Detecting if Your Neighbors are Growing Weed

Laboratories growing weed are always on the news, especially if these are "busted" by the authorities. These end up getting in the news especially if they make millions of dollars. However, grow ops can be anywhere. Organized crime would focus their efforts on getting in high-end neighborhoods because the residents would not think that anything like that would happen in their neighborhood.

Growing weed can pose many effects and can be organized into three levels. First and foremost, there is structural damage caused by altering the building. People who are growing weeds would alter the electrical connections or convert their fireplaces into vents for their operations. In order to tap on the electricity, the walls are ripped.

The second level of damage would be the the presence of excess moisture because of the operation. This moisture would in time penetrate into the walls and every part of the home and then creates a harmful kind of mold called the "black mold".

The third level of damage would be on the value of the property and its surroundings. The value of the property where a confirmed group is growing weed decreases as well as the neighboring houses, especially if these get in the news. Growing weed will not only be limited to residential houses too. There are some which are located in apartments and high-rise buildings. Structural damage is done to apartments amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the alterations that are made to accommodate the operation.

The police officers in Winnipeg have already discovered ways in locating and preventing this threat to happen in neighborhoods. However, they still need the help of concerned citizens who will call and report any possible operations on growing weed. Here are examples. One, you know that people have moved in. But you never or seldom see them, Usually, there are no children in houses where there is an operation of growing weed. The house may be busy during the wee hours in the night or dawn. You may also notice that the people are doing something in the area where the water meter is present. If you can closely examine the area, you will see that the water meter is turned. You will also notice that there is no or only minimal garbage that is created by the household. This is due to the fact that nobody actually lives in the area. They also may not be recognizable at first. Do not think that people who are growing weed are from only one group or race, nor even think that these are run only by men.

These are just some of the ways in which you can identify if your neighbors are running an organized crime. Be alert and report any signs of such activities to the local police.
