Xbox 360 Elite

Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox 360™ Elite late at night yesterday. As mentioned just about everywhere else days in advance, the system includes an HDMI port, a "high-definition" cable (presumably HDMI), a 120GB drive, the ability to play back movies and TV from Xbox LIVE®, as well as the typical wireless controller and headset. It comes as no surprise that the new 120GB drive will be sold separately for a scandalously marked-up price of $179.99, but who are you going to complain to?

The new system will not replace the Core or Premium bundles. Instead, it will come to the market at a price only $120 cheaper than the Playstation 3. The PS3, of course, only has one desirable configuration, so I'm not comparing the more shriveled form. The Xbox 360™ Elite will arive in your local Best Buy or other U.S. electronic store for on the 29th of April.

The question you must ask yourself now is this: Do you want a l33t Xbox 360™ which can play downloaded movies and TV shows in HD? With ADV signed up as a provider of LIVE television and movie content, I won't be surprised if many basement college kids end up buying the system.
