The Graphic Novel

Well, this is the blog of Archon, the creator of the DarkSun's Glare graphic novel.
DarkSun's Glare is a story of lost people in a cruel world, ideals demented into sick urges, souls twisted into the machinations of a powerful individual, and the sudden bonds of friendship and their durability and strength. It is a serious story sporting some rather un-serious characters at first glance. Yet each holds his own piece of the story.

To start reading DSG from the beginning go HERE
The first four episodes are presented in the form of ill-constructed "comic pages" :P However, starting with ep #5 the story takes a different, much nicer form :)

What do you mean? The blog? Yes, it's all my doing, and I had some help from my bro with coding. (actually, a lot of help)
As for the novel itself - there is a big post describing how I make it.

Oh, and thanks again.

I was speaking of the graphic art you have in the blog
I know how much time it takes to create something from
start you did a great job and the color fits the name

By zenya, # 24. August 2008, 12:20:21

avatar
Yeah, I had the idea of a strong color pallete from the start. It's also visible in the DSG itself, but I tend to keep it subtle.

I love the dark bg for writing also it helps me keep focus
on the words and feelings not the brightness of the page

I should write in word first however, it takes away the atmosphere
of being deep in the dark.

Do you know how to turn word into a dark place ?

By zenya, # 24. August 2008, 13:52:39

avatar
Yup!
Word (we're talking about microsoft Word right?) has an option specificaly for that - it's under Tools->Options->General tab. In the second row - blue background, white text. It turns the white of the page into a semi-vibrant darkish blue, pretty pleasant actually.
It also helps a lot with keeping your eyes healthy. Less glare and contrast - less strain - better for your eyes.

avatar
WOW I did it  thanks so much
will it be blue if I cut and paste?

yes this is why I use black also in all my browsers where I can
I love the darkness for viewing photos and movies and of course writing I stay from blogs with white as it does hurt my eyes :frown:

By zenya, # 24. August 2008, 18:14:22

Hey, anytime!
No, it won't be blue\white if you paste it somewhere. It's just the way Word represents it - in essence, it's still black\white, but he just displays it differently. So you can copy\paste all you want - the color won't be a problem.
The only possible problem you might encounter is when opening a file that has the font color specificaly set to black, instead of "automatic".
I always use word like this.

the tools part it has more formatting in this version
than in the 2003 one

By zenya, # 24. August 2008, 20:42:56

avatar
No, sorry, never used the 2007 one.
Sorry I can't help :frown:

By DarkSunsGlare, # 24. August 2008, 20:54:50

avatar
ok thanks anyway I never used it either its very diffent
from the 03 one :frown: I will have to take some time to get around it
and see for myself.

I noticed on your About Page that you said you currently have a problem with DnD.

I didn't know what that was, so I looked it up and found these various alternatives:

  • Drag and drop, an action of clicking on an object and dragging it to a different location (in GUI)
  • Dungeons & Dragons, a fantasy role-playing game
  • dnd (computer game)
  • Department of National Defence (Canada)
  • Department of National Defense (Philippines)
  • Do not disturb
  • Drunk and Disorderly
  • Dundee Airport, IATA airport code
  • Dunkin' Donuts
  • Delhi Noida Direct Flyway

I'm going to assume that it's not the Dunkin' Donuts one. Or the Philippines one.

No it's not the Philippines one. It's the Canada one! :D

"O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!..."

I think you figured it out on your own - it's Dungeons & Dragons.
Yeah, I'm a geek. Though that isn't hard to figure out, no? :D Mind you - I'm not a fanatic. It's that perfect system of D&D (3rd edition) that I like so much. And the game Neverwinter Nights. Haven't played D&D for real yet... just on the computer

Don't worry, I won't bug you with it :D

I'm like 90 miles from Canada here in Spokane. In fact I've even picked up a bit of the B.C. phrasing across the years.

I'm not worried about DnD. It's those WoW people who are the real pain in the ass.

SHHH!
They might hear you!

Not everyone who plays WoW is bad... Espen plays WoW. Amnith too (he's in my friends list). Ray Koefoed (though I think he pretty much quit) Ok, that's three... well, I just ran out of people to list! :ko:

I never was into WoW, and probably never will be... Played Warcraft 3, disliked it. Played Warcraft 3 Frozen throne and almost barfed because of the storyline somewhere half way thru. That's as far as I'm going into the world of warcraft P:

"B.C. phrasing"? What does that mean...? I think I know, but please, do explain :right:

By DarkSunsGlare, # 29. September 2008, 21:11:55

Just joking about the WoW people. I actually know a guy who's totally into it. He has a blog here, in fact, I introduced him to Opera, but he's not really a blogger. He reads a lot, mostly fantasy fiction, and of course there's the whole WoW thing. I think he did maybe two or three posts and then quit.

Hard to say about the B.C. phrasing. There's a tendency to add "yeah?" at the end of sentences. I think that's about the only thing that has really stuck with me so far.

The Eastern Canadians don't use "yeah?", they use "eh?".

By edwardpiercy, # 29. September 2008, 21:22:31

avatar
Well, send him my way (provided that "quiting" doesn't mean leaving my.opera entirely). Who knows, he might even like DSG... y'know - the more the merrier P:

Ah, thanks for the little clarification. I wondered abOOt the acronym, though... P:

His name is Jeff. Seems like (I just checked) he hasn't posted since April. But I don't know, he might check in and operasurf every once in a while. In any case you could leave him a PM for when he checks in next. I think you two would have some things in common.
