Addicted to Mexico City

Traveling makes me feel alive, but when I come back to my hometown, I feel as being at the top of the world.

May is a beautiful month

For a long time, I disliked very much the flat where I live. I hated the darkness, the coldness and being with the electrical light turned on all the time. But now, I don't know exactly why, I have changed my mind. Now I like this flat, I like the quietness, the perfect-for-wine temperature and the darkness.

Addicted to Mexico or to Mexico City?

A friend of mine told me a few days ago that I was addicted to Mexico, the country, not to Mexico City. After thinking a while about it, I say yes. I am really addicted to Mexico City but I also like very much my country. I love Mexican food, specially the one that is made in the Mexican States of Veracruz, Yucatan and Mexico City. I love Mexican beaches, my favorite is Puerto Vallarta and its neighborhood. I enjoy Mexican landscapes, specially the ones with mountains and valleys. I like also Mexican colonial cities as Morelia and Guanajuato. And I also love to visit our wonderful archeological sites, Palenque and Tajin are the ones that I like the most.

From the big city to the quiet town of San Miguel

, , ,

Last weekend I have been to San Miguel de Allende, a beautiful town located 300 kms away from Mexico City, with my friend Odette. She was supposed to deliver some of her paintings to the Atenea Gallery, the one that is going to exhibit her nudes on July. This trip was a wonderful one, we enjoyed the food, art, nice weather and friendly people at San Miguel. I really loved it!

Sindrome del Jamaicon

, ,

I am a good traveler and I travel very often. I enjoy visiting different cities and countries and I like to try new dishes, learn new languages and live for a short period of time outside Mexico. But after 1 month I feel strange and I start missing my own food, the crowds, my 20-years-old pillow and my friends, of course. In Mexico this is called as a syndrome, the "Sindrome del Jamaicon". Have you ever felt like that?
By the way, in English it is called "home sickness".
