It's on the internet. It's gotta be true.

Tut. How could our favourite browser maker ever got mixed up in something so underhand? I feel dirty just blogging. Oh the inhumanity of it al(Oh do get on with it - The Man in the Big Hat)

In other news, today I went shopping.

Apparently that's quite a lot. Er...

22.046226218 pounds. Everything in Canada suddenly went metric years ago. The worst thing was when I had a sick child and bought Tylenol for the first time. 2am, with a pocket calculator, a purple crayon and the back of an envelope, not to mention a crying baby, trying to convert from metric to something recognizable - turned out to be almost a cupfull - that didn't sound quite right, so I gave a couple of spoonfulls and cursed the PM - Trudeau for this asinine decision to "go metric" in such a hurry.
Glad you got your spuds!

I'm a firm believer that the metric system is the work of some minor devil somewhere. Switching to it gave the con men carte-blanche to con old ladies out of their miserly pensions and simultaniously gave birth to a series of generations who can't do mental arithmetic any more.

I knew it. I bought too much. irked

I shall have to make some mash. For some reason potatoes don't go as far when you mash them.

Why is that?

I think we should be told.

I've noticed that too, I think it's because they taste better, especially when you add heavy cream, lots of butter, some garlic and some, actually, quite a lot of cheese. Maybe not diet food...

I've never tried creaming it. I actually bought rather a lot of cream (Special offer) when I bought the potatoes so I guess it would have been a good time to try it, but I went for the safe option. Butter, onions, and cheese. Then I stuck it in the oven for 5 minutes.

Next time I'll try 10...

You put it in the over AFTER you mash them? That sounds like something good. I guess they would get kind of a crispy top to them.

That's what I was going for, but I didn't leave it long enough for the full effect. It still tasted great though, the cheese melted just enough to become stringy.

OK, it's 8:06 am. I have at least part of dinner planned!
