It's nearly official. We're depressed.

Yup, it's true. It seems like later today it will be announced that we really are finally in a state of depression, which may come as a shock to all those convinced that we already were. Gosh, maybe it's the way they calculate what a depression really is that's wrong. What I don't quite get is all these people broadcasting that Britain's depression is going to be soooo much worse than anyone else's, yet most of the rest of the world is already in depression and we're only just getting there. Sort of like flogging a dead horse without telling the horse it's dead...
What I want to know is, where is all the money? The amount of dosh that's disappeared from the world's economy can't just be stored under anyone's matress, not unless they're really really big people; it must have gone somewhere, who's been seen wandering around town with several large heavy suitcases? I suspect the 2nd world have it. I've often wondered who and where they are and now I know, they're right there where all the money's gone.
You know how I hate to say "I told you so", but I do believe that I told someone at some time that if you let idiots like Thatcher destroy your manufacturing base you're only asking for trouble, never mind that other idiot, Digby Whatever, saying that now we can do what Britain does best and add value to products brought (Maybe that should be 'Bought') in from abroad. If we do that our money goes out of the country and none comes back in, and it doesn't take the foreign manufacturers long to work out what value we're adding and start building it in for themselves.
Surely any idiot can work out that if you buy all your goods from China and India there's eventually going to be no money left in the country?
Is it time for the revolution yet?

Probably that money didnt disappear, it was never there in the first place, just bits of electronic paper money travelling sooo fast that it took a while for it all to catch up, a bit like the famous Wacky Wacky bird in its ever decreasing circles. Still, at least the UK gets the best depression that money can buy

Last year my history class did a thing on economics.
thje money's not gone; not REALLY.
It's sill there, just worth less. (Meh, say the word both ways: 'worth less' and 'worthless'. Same thing.....
Now, I can;t remember much of it, and Rei's useless (Even though he's studying it RIGHT NOW...), but, it's something like, if people just ignored that you are in a depression and still spent on the things that they used to, then that would gear up the econmy agan and began to dig us out.
The money's still there; it's just hiding.
People need it to pay their bills... which is why the 'economic stimulus packages' in my country were useless: People wouldn't sfford to use it on the econmy. Too many peopl are in debt.
I remember Taka going off on how wrong it is that my country LIVES on debt. He said he could go to the bank, take out a loan, and hop the border!! And no one would even know until it was too late!!!
We thrive on 'credit cards'. Little pieces of plastic that allow us to individually accrue monstrous amounts of debt.
If you think about it...
If people didn;t use credit cards anymore, just cash, then they would know right away just how much they were really spending. (Add up the intrest, too...)
My mom read those Shopaholic books (they're now a movie, I ehar) and when I saw the ads I asked her about it...
A lot more people do that then you prolly think......
What's the world coming to......?

Likewise if the company doesn't do so well people try to sell the shares, but others won't buy them, so eventually the price drops to just one cent a share, but the company still has it's original million.
Basically the stock market trades on imaginary money. No one's printed more cash, the real money's still out there, going the rounds.

THAT'S why everyone's got no money!! You've hit it on the head: They spend it on those way-too-expensive-75-bucks-for-a-ripped-tee-shirt-clothes!!! (Rip it YOURSELF...
It seems like that's all the kids at my school buy.

Gotta keep up with the times, and maybe the next big franchise is "Fashionable Depression".
...Better start a magazine....

I have 11:12 and need to be up for school in like six hours... Screw it...
Your plan was so well-thought out, too... Shame he unwittingly ressurected himself...
