Astronomers Unveil Most Complete 3-D Map of Local Universe

, , , ...

...astronomers unveiled the most complete 3-D map of the local universe (out to a distance of 380 million light-years) ever created. Taking more than 10 years to complete, the 2MASS Redshift Survey (2MRS) also is notable for extending closer to the Galactic plane than previous surveys - a region that's generally obscured by dust.

Ubuntu Tips to Remember

When I come up with a problem and find the solution I'll write it here for further use.

1. Force-Kill a fullscreen app
Press Alt + F2
Type xkill
When cursor changes to X (ubuntu 10.10) click the app you want to kill.

2. My keypad acts like a mouse
Go to System --> Preferences --> Keyboard
Go to tab "Mouse Keys"
Uncheck "Pointer can be controlled using the keypad"

3. How to install / run .sh file in ubuntu (Linux) ?
Right click on the file
Go to Properties --> Permissions
Check "Allow executing file as program"
Click on "Close"
Double click on file to install or run.

4. Run a .jar file
Right click on the file
Go to Properties --> Permissions
Check "Allow executing file as program"
Click on "Close"
Right click on file and select "Open with OpenJDK Java 6 Runtime"

5. Making a file executable
Right click on the file
Go to Properties --> Permissions
Check "Allow executing file as program"
Click on "Close"

Automount NTFS partition (windows) in Ubuntu 10.10

, , , ...

3 days ago I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop as a second OS. Now I can dualboot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10 party
This time I'm really willing to use Ubuntu more. But I found myself in need of automounting my windows partition everytime I booted Ubuntu. Because there are files in my ntfs partition I still need to access from ubuntu. Or some files I need to copy and paste from ubuntu to win. But everytime I booted up I had to mount my ntfs drive manually. And this is a hassle.

So here is the easy way to mount your ntfs(windows) partition automatically everytime you log in to your distro.

Non-existing subscriptions@my.opera

"No new subscriptions found..."

I thing my.opera is making fun of me p Is this a bug or sth? Anyway this is disturbing.

Opera Mobile & Windows Mobile 6.5

, , , ...

Opera mobile 11 (and Opera Mini 6) have been released today. Good up

But...

I use a windows mobile 6.5 phone and I have opera mobile 10 installed. Cool you may say. I say no... Because it is SLOW. Yes it is. Not the fastest browser mad It loads pages slowly even if I'm using wifi. When you slide the page downwards or upwards you see many checkers covering the screen. And it needs some time to get rid of that damn checkers and show the page itself.

Secondly, it eats a lot of ram even if you can not see the actual amount in task manager. Task manager shows 5-8mb usege but more than 30mb of ram dissappears when opera is on.

So while I was waiting for the newer version, which I saw it was released today, I came up with bad news. No opera mobile 11 for winmo 6.5 bomb They totally ignored it. I understand that v11 comes with that fancy zoom thing that iphone does (and other new features) and winmo 6.5 does not support multitouch. But I'd really like to use v11 without that option!

Anyway, winmo 6.5 seems outdated but there are many many people out there who still use this system.
I wonder if they will remember winmo 6.5 furious

Merchant Ship Batavia 1:150 Scale Model

, , , ...

I'm interested in scale models for a while. I've done a few when I was a child. So none of them exist now unfortunately... I decided to buy a full set with paints included. Decided to make a nice one and I bought this set from Revell.

Since it was my first pro model I was kinda rookie doing it. But it turned out pretty good. It was nice dealing with small parts, painting them and learning new technics. If you like dealing with details I strongly advice this hobby for you.

Anyways below some pics about the set. I will post photos of the final model later. After this has been done I've completed another model which I'll post soon. Also I'm building a wooden model which I started from the scratch. So more to come, stay tuned p
